'07 IL QB Bo Flowers (Illinois Verbal)

So Jim Barron Jr., who plays hoops for his dad at Rhode Island, is a walk on because he gets free tuition per his dad being an employee of the school. However he counts against Rhode Islands 13 scholarship limit. What up with that?

The most likely reason that he won't need a scholarship is because his college tuition was written into his baseball contract. I understand this is common practice if the player either hasn't attended or finished their university education.
