'07 FL ATH LaTravis Washington (Nebraska Verbal)

What is Nebraska recruiting him as?
A pulse.

Look, it seems pretty cut and dried to me. If OSU is recruiting him as a dual-threat QB, then it's in the bag. After he comes to C-Bus for his official visit the weekend of the OSU/UM game, takes in the atmosphere and 105,000 screaming fans firsthand, witnesses Troy Smith light up the Wolverines for 400 yards total offense and 4 TDs rushing and throwing en route to the Heisman presentation ceremony and national championship game berth, maybe even taking in a Men's BBall game at the Schott a week or two later to do the doubleheader with the nations' #1 football and basketball teams ... well, after all that, I'm guessing Washington will want to commit.

Not a real surprise considering we aren't taking a QB this year, however, if the staff eventually changes their minds by NLOID, I'd love to have LaTravis. He seems to have a rocket for an arm and his mechanics can always be worked on. The speed and agility is what is impressive with him as well, the perfect mold for the future Ohio State QB.

Also personally I like the fact that we are recruiting more of the dual threat QBs now a days, I truly think we might become known for dishing out the dual threat QBs in a decade or so.

His recruitment reminds me quite a bit of Walter Dublin's last year. He has a very similar list of schools, with OSU going head-to-head with Nebraska. Like Dublin, he has flown a little bit under the radar.

My guess is that if we really do want him and put the effort in, we'd be the favorite.

On film he looks like a good one. He will be able to come in and not be forced to play early. Its a good thing, because thatll give him sometime to sharpen up his mechanics and the footwork. Hes got great size (looked on a different level than the other kids on the film), great arm strength, and his speed looked great too. I think this is a good offer, and Id be glad to have him in the class. He'll have to sit behind Antonio for a little while anyway, maybe he can take some reps at DB.

I agree, Dublin flew very much under the radar. The only publication (other than OSU media) that has picked up on Dublin was the USA today saying he is our under the radar recruit who will earn a starting role while playing ball at OSU..

Back to LaTravis

I think he likes that Tressel is comming around the recruiting an athletic QB, much to the difference of Cooper. Cooper had Stanley Jackson, but really used him in the platoon system. With Tressel standing behind Troy Smith 100% (even after all of his mistakes off the field), and changing his offense to suit Smiths style, it has got to be appealing to LaTravis. Then take into consideration that Tressel went out and took Antonio Henton who flew under many radars last year (even after Henton suffered a nasty injury).

I think Nebraska wil be hard to be in terms of immediate PT, but OSU has got to be in the lead just for the fact that we are willing to surround him with the best personel to play the game "his way" and not forcing him to change his style.
