Cobrani Mixon
Inside linebacker
Cincinnati Colerain
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 220 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.6 seconds
Bench max: 315 pounds
Vertical leap: 33 inches

Cobrani is from defending Division I champion Cincinnati Colerain, and is a teammate of fellow Ohio State recruit Connor Smith. He claims an offer from Michigan, and also likes Ohio State, Alabama, Florida, Minnesota, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. I don't know whether the Bucks are in the market for another ILB, but Cobrani will most likely merit a look from the staff.

An offer from Michigan this early in the game? Expect Ohio State to follow up shortly. He must be a ball player since Michigan offered him despite having a couple of star LB in its own backyard. I guess this means that Smith will be offered soon too?

From the Michigan site...Mixon expects an offer from Michigan when he goes up there for their junior day this weekend. He says he would probably accept on the spot. Mixon says he and Connor Smith are tight and that they talk about playing together at Michigan a lot. After Michigan, Cobrani's favorites are Alabama and Florida.

Cobrani is not a lock for scUM...when JT dropped his surprise visit on Connor Smith in December he also talked at great length with Cobrani. Mixon has also drawn interest from Nebraska. But you have to remember that Colerain camps, as a team, at scUM every summer. So the scUM staff gets early looks at their talent...But Connor's choice of school will not have anything to do with Cobrani.

The only thing that has kept schools from offering him right now is the fact that he tore his ACL and is coming off of surgery...But do not underestimate this kid...he PLAYED the final 10 games of Colerain's season WITH the torn ACL and gutted it out on sheer will and pain tolerance. He is also a great kid.

From the Michigan site...Michigan leads solidly for Cobrani over Alabama and Florida. He did not receive the offer he expected while in Ann Arbor this weekend but he plans on talking to the Michigan staff to see when he can expect an offer.

how many LB's is UM looking at taking now with Graham in the fold. Why in the world does Colerain waste all that gas to drive up to camp at Michigan when the best team and facilities are just 2 hours north in Columbus? I will never understand...

Michigan is looking at taking 2 ILBs and 2 OLBs this year. Graham fills one of the ILB slots. They are also really pushing for Jeremiah Hunter, Dorin Dickerson, and Micah Johnson (although at 277, even running a 4.7, I don't think he can get his weight down to play LB). Mixon and A.J. Edds are probably next in line to receive offers after that.

It will be interesting to see how Mixon's senior year plays out. He could be a pleasant surprise at LB for Ohio this year. I would like for JT to stay in touch with the kid and see what kind of numbers and play he turns out this upcoming season.

Though I feel confident about Gibson, and we already have Homan, but I think we go after one more high quality LB in this class.

It is hard to explain, but the bottom line is that Tom Cosica (Colerain coach from the mid 70's to late 80's) had connections to scUM. Colerain stopped going to scUM until Kerry Coombs became head coach. He played for Cosica and brought back the scUM trip...to the best of knowledge (and personal experience) OSU has, in general, ignored Colerain for decades. JT is doing a nice job of building some in roads. It is just going to take a little more time.

Cobrani would have had several offers by now had he not torn his ACL. I have heard that is the reason scUM did not offer him this weekend.
