Cary running back plays waiting game

By TIM STEVENS, Staff Writer

Josh Adams laughed at the notion that he might have secretly committed to a college -- N.C. State, North Carolina, Wake Forest or anywhere else.
"Right now, I'm planning on waiting as long as I can before committing," Adams, a running back at Cary High, said Monday. "I'm going to ride this as long as possible."

Adams, one of the most highly recruited senior football players in the state, said he has visited N.C. State, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke and Virginia, but that his recruitment remains wide open.

In 2004, he rushed for 2,884 yards, scored 26 touchdowns and averaged more than 220 rushing yards per game.

Top recruits give state inspection

Cary's Josh Adams, left, says his college pick will come down to the situation, not the state.

Cary running back Josh Adams believes the best high school football players in the state should attend North Carolina colleges.
He knows the advantages of staying in state. He would like for in-state schools to have nationally prominent teams.

He grew up a University of North Carolina fan.

But next February on the day he signs his national letter of intent, Adams says none of those things will be the primary factor in selecting a school.

He plans to sign with the school that offers the best situation for him -- in state or out of state.

"I've got to go to the place that is best for me," Adams said. "I think everybody would like for the best players to stay here, but every player has an individual choice."

To the idiot who gave me a bad rep for my comment about Josh. I was simply saying I expect him to go to UNC.
I would agree, although maybe the fact that they already have Elzy in the fold will affect his decision...
