Michigan Elite 11 Tryout: Top Names and Surprises
By The GoBlueWolverine Staff GoBlueWolverine.com
Date: May 7, 2005

Oosterbaan Fieldhouse in Ann Arbor was host Friday to 100 high school quarterbacks, all hoping to make the "Elite 11" Quarterback Camp -- as well as trying to impress the dozens of college coaches looking on. 16 well known signal-callers were in attendance, including Josh Freeman from Kansas City. But it was a relatively unknown from Minnesota who was the top performer. Also: a top offensive lineman on an unofficial visit was spotted, as well as an in-state tight end and a huge instate lineman.

According to the Michigan site, Adam was the most impressive QB at the event, throwing very good balls and with accuracy. At this point, Minnesota is his only offer but they may change after his performance.

The University of Michigan is the home of the Big House, and over the weekend several prospects showed they were worthy of that stage with big-time performances at the Michigan NIKE Camp. Quarterback Adam Weber improved his stock with a solid showing, and not one but two players eclipsed the previous top SPARQ score at a NIKE Camp this year. Get the whole stroy.

wadc45...you were all over this one...

wadc45 on Adam Weber...
Adam Weber {MN}: See above...Adam looks an awful lot like Miles. Adam is just a few inches taller and runs a 4.6 compared to Miles 4.9. He has great footwork in the pocket for being a high school junior (almost to the point that it looks like he watches film of Peyton Manning). He has a quick release, keeping the ball very close to his body when he throws. He throws very well on the run and has good escapability given his 4.6 speed. He is definitely not scared of contact. If you need a QB to pick up 4th and inches, Adam is your man.

Adam Weber a Secret No More
By Sam Webb Columnist/Photographer
Date: May 9, 2005

Minnesota signal caller Adam Weber surprised a lot of folks when he turned in the top performance at this weekend's Elite 11 tryout in Ann Arbor. The strong armed QB turned a lot heads with his accuracy and his high velocity passes. His stock is on the rise after his performance and a number of other programs should soon join the Golden Gophers in extending an offer. Is Michigan on his early list?

Adam says the schools showing the most interest at this point are Minnesota (offer), Ohio State and Wisconsin. He has visited Minnesota, Nebraska and Michigan on unofficial visits and says Minnesota is recruiting him the hardest.
Weber will attend camp at Minnesota and possibly Ohio State. He states he is interested in Michigan but has not been contacted by them.

From the Wisconsin site...Adam says recruiting has picked up since his performance at the Nike camp in Ann Arbor. He is hearing from Wisconsin about once a week. Miami (FL) and Oklahoma have also started to show interest.

Adam still has 3 offers but is expecting more after camp performances. He is camping at Minnesota, Michigan State, and Ohio State. Adam was impressed with a phonecall from Nebraska Coach Scott Downing. He also speaks highly of the in-state Golden Gophers and how they have been with him the longest and his father is a former player there.

1. Isiah Williams, 6-2, 220, 4.7, Chicago (Vocational)
Rocket-Arm QB gives a down Illinois program a big shot in the arm.

2. Austen Arnaud, 6-3, 205, 4.8, Ames, Iowa
Set to choose between Iowa and Iowa State. Terrific dual-threat QB.

3. Nate Davis, 6-3, 200, 4.7, Bellaire, Ohio. </B>
Raw but Davis has a cannon for an arm and he’s a natural athlete

4. Mike Hartline, 6-6, 185, 4.8, Canton (Glenoak) .
Needs to add bulk but Hartline has the potential to be a special player

5. Alex Loukas, 6-4, 190, 4.7, Deerfield, Ill., .
There’s not a hotter QB prospect in the Midwest. Tons of upside

6. Demetrius Jones, 6-3, 190, 4.7, Chicago (Morgan Park) .
“Double D” is an athletic QB who will flourish in the right system

7. Jared Funk, 6-2, 175, 4.6, Arlington Heights (Ill.) St. Viator.
Check this list in three years and Funk could be the best of the bunch

8. Arvell Nelson, 6-4, 175, 4.7, Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville.
Arvell needs to add bulk but he’s been impressive this spring

9. Adam Weber, 6-2, 205, 4.8, Arden Hills (Minn.) Mounds View.
Impressed on the spring combine circuit; Favors Minnesota

10. Ben Chappell, 6-2, 210, 4.8, Bloomington (Ind.) South.
Same high school as Rex Grossman…Committed to Indiana

11. Matt Jansen, 6-2, 190, 4.7, Crown Point (Ind.) .
Some feel that Jansen is the best quarterback in the Hoosier State

12. Rudy Kirbus, 6-4, 205, 4.7, Cleveland (Ohio) St. Ignatius.
Plays for one of the top programs in the Midwest…25 TD passes in ’04

13. Mike Canfield, 6-1, 215, 4.6, Lansing (MI) Everett.
Impressed at the Army All-American Combine in San Antonio

14. Brennen Glass, 6-4, 215, 4.8, Springfield (Ohio) South.
3,052 yards passing and 29 touchdowns as a junior

15. Miles Schlichter, 6-1, 205, 4.7, Washington Court House (Ohio) Miami Trace. Athletic and good gene pool; Competition is a question mark but Schlichter could be very productive at the next level.
