'06 MD CB A.J. Wallace (Penn State signee)

scarletngrey77 said:
he fits the perfect mold of a defensive back that tressel loves, big hitter, tall, and fast.

Everybody likes to try to categorize a "Tressel-type" player. Youboty isn't a big hitter or all that fast...rather he's a sure tackler and has superb cover skills. Tressel looks at skills and attitude as much as he does size and speed.

i doubt that he would officially commit, but if he enjoys himself, i wouldn't rule out the dreaded silent verbal. this is his first official visit, so i wouldn't be surprised to see him take his FSU and Nebraska officials just to compare.

A good article from Steve H. as A.J. runs down his weekend activities in Columbus. He enjoyed the pregame, game itself, and postgame reaction from the team. Right now, the Buckeyes are high on his list, but he will still take some visits.

More of the same.....Wallace said the stadium and atmosphere was a plus for the Buckeyes. He will decide between Miami, LSU, Florida, and Oklahoma for his final two visits. He has visits scheduled with Florida State and Nebraska. The visits will tell the story. He was hosted by Malcolm Jenkins.

here's another one on AJ by Mike Farrell. AJ gushes about tOSU in this one, rating his visit as a 10. says that we are his leader coming out of his visit.

this article makes me wonder if he's playing it cool with tOSU reporters, cause he always gushes about us to others.

another write-up on his visit to tOSU. another "10". his parents were able to come with him and were very impressed. his favorite part was the walk to the stadium with the players and makes mention of seeing himself playing in front of that kind of a crowd.

does it seem odd that Wallace appears much more glowing about his osu visit when he does interviews with outside sources. perhaps its just the wording the sitre writers used, but you could see how some people would be more optimistic after reading the wallace update and the husker site update versus reading his osu updates.

not that it means anything, just seemed odd.

one thing to keep in mind is that these recruiting sites bombard players with questions. One recruit said it best when he told them to ask the other guy, b/c he just answered all of the same questions.

He should be honest with the OSU staff, and the rest is just a money-driven enterprise for overzealous fans. If it were me, I would not feel obligated to give away anything to scouting reporters. Factor in the aspect that he wants to wait to decide (which means more official visits), and there are plenty of reasons to be guarded.

Given the brotherhood he witnessed on the sidelines of the North/South game (Glenville + Salley, Wells, Wells, etc)... and putting us at the top, I love our chances.
