'06 GA WR Chris Slaughter (Auburn signee; transfer to Fort Valley State)

If he has been offered then why not go after him hard. I know we are in on some other studs but i really like Slaughter and would probably take him over all besides maybe Ausberry who we dont have the greatest chances with. Also what's going on with our recruiting. I've heard many top recruits saying we aren't recruiting them very hard like Ausberry, Slaughter, Jeremiah Hunter, and most atonishing is Thaddeus Gibson. Are we on vacation because I know there is no way we are losing interest in Gibson or Ausberry.

We answered this when it was discussed about thaddeus... Thad is probably very likely to become a buckeye and so they don't have to go over the top elsewhere.

There could be any number of reasons the coaching staff isn't pursuing him as hard... perhaps they have a decent shot at Ausberry (recruiting articles are misleading, not necessarily b/c of spin either). Perhaps this kid has average grades. Perhaps lots of things.

Just b/c one school is recruiting them harder than another doesn't mean we are screwing up. Nobody in the country has had the success rate that JT has had. You see the splashes Pete Carroll has made (yet the media overlooks the lack of a RB for two straight years, a huge need next year)... but its not too difficult to recruit when you're on that big of a winning streak.

The coaching staff is doing just fine. They know better than us who is and who isn't worth pursuing. We've had a lot of studs that were 3 star recruits, and a lot of disappointments that have been ranked higher. Therefore, I'll defer to their judgment as they have brought us stars, and a decent amount of the "must have" players that we've just barely missed have not produced.

Apparently HH is reporting that while Slaughter is listing tOSU, the OSU staff does not have the same interest in him.
from a poster at MaddenMania.com>>>He'll probably decide between AUB, UGA, and South Carolina.

just FYI, pretty sure the poster is Jacquez Green*, who went to the same HS as Slaughter (and Henton)- Ft. Valley. Says he talked to Chris.

*-99% positive the Mods confirmed it over there plus he's a Madden Bowl champ, makes sense, and I know 100% that mods at another Madden site have confirmed he posts there.

I assume by "thaddeus" you mean LB Thaddeus Gibson. If so, what does he have to do with the recruitment of Slaughter?

Rb7 was worried that we weren't applying the same pressure on some kids as other schools... extremely similar complaint to the one in thaddeus' thread.

That makes since with Gibson. I believe he is an OSU lock probably and we wouldn't have to go after him to hard. I trust the staff but I was wondering if we were taking a week off or something odd because I had just seen so many articles lately saying they hadn't heard much from OSU and most of them were what I would have thought to be high up on our want list.

To continue the semi-related discussion, Bryan Thomas (a 4-star WR/CB from FL) has the buckeyes leading for his services right now. If the staff feels good about landing him, they probably would be happy with Chichester, Small (more likely to play WR than CB), and Thomas.

Another thing to point out is that Tressel stresses not offering guys we can't bring in. Other schools might string along Slaughter in this case, just in case Thomas goes elsewhere.

Not to hijack this thread, but to briefly answer your question, he named us his leader in a recent Scout article. Also referenced in his thread.

Scout is notoriously bad about not updating who the actual leader is. If you have premium, you need to make sure to read the articles, b/c those give a better idea of where they are leaning.

no problem. That's why BP exists, so that info about a recruit can be found out, but the interesting anecdotes of the article are saved for subscribers.
