'06 FL OLB/TE Colin McCarthy (Miami Signee)

another rumor has mccarthy sniffing around Florida now that grant is
gone...heard this from a big gator backer at my work..i def. think osu cooled on colin..

No doubt in my mind we did. We already have 4 LB's and only one is a MLB. Also it appears quite likely that we get Grant. That's 4 OLB's. There would be no way we take 5. I really liked McCarthy and was hoping he could be a Buckeye but I certainly understand the situation and trust the staffs decision here.

I liked McCarthy a lot in the earlier stages, but the further his recruitment has dragged on, the more I have heard that he hasn't impressed at his all-star games...that's he's not all that he's cracked up to be and that he's not an impact player. Not that I believe everything I hear, but there is something about McCarthy that never really pulled me in.

I'm absolutely thrilled with our LB class as is. For the simple fact that McCarthy was supposedly on the edge of committing to us like 5 times but never did made me wonder...does he really want to leave the state? Anyways, good luck to Colin wherever he chooses to go as an OLB and dangit, I'm pumped for our LB class more than I was when we reeled in Hawk/Carp/White/D'Andrea...now can we get similar results? :)

UM linebacker trying to live up to promise - 08/07/2007 - MiamiHerald.com

After being promised Dan Morgan's No. 44 as a high school senior, linebacker Colin McCarthy has come into his own.

You might not know his name, but if you're a college football aficionado, just remember this number: 44.

Those double-digits, which once belonged to former UM All-American linebacker Dan Morgan, are numbers that drive sophomore Colin McCarthy. Miami coaches were so impressed with McCarthy as a senior at Clearwater Central Catholic that they promised and eventually gave him the heralded number worn by Morgan from 1997 through 2000.
