It's interesting to here Steve H and Mr. Bucknuts talk about the kids on the academic bubble. When calling these recruits later in the evening, often their parents say they are out with friends etc. You gotta wonder how much work these recuits actually do to rectify their grade problems/test scores?

i think you will see a scummy dirty system get worse not better...in effect you will see a passing effect. kids will be borught in and pushed through school. this is not what college is about, its about failing (or almost failing) and learning from the stuff you messed up and life lessons. not about gettting psuhed through thte system bc your on the football team.

That kind of system has already been in place for eons...pushing football jocks through classes is not a new thing by any stretch. The thing that is different here is that schools will also have to focus on overall grad rates instead of just keeping individual players academically eligible. Then again, if kids are kept academically eligible enough to play (both curriculum and grades) they end up getting their diploma almost as a by-product.

And those schools that take kids with questionable work habits in the classroom will, in short order, risk having a tough row to hoe in keeping their schollie count at a survivable level.

I bet at some stage the parents of hot prospects get really tired of having these recruiting reporting services calling. Maybe Steve H or Mr. Bucknuts is being given a brush-off so Ma and Pa Kettle can have a moments peace?
