'05 Ohio TE/LB Brandon Long (Michigan State signee)

No, nothing further from the turth Muck. I talked with ALL parties involved, and do not see him playing for OSU. IMO, I think its a size/speed/ability issue. I know what his Nike numbers are, etc. I think staff just sees him as a second or third choice right now.

So, what does that have to do with your earlier statement "unless OSU looses some of the existing commits". Do you think that we'll take an extra LB, FB, or TE if a current commit from a position other than those decommits? Doesn't make sense, because we'll take the same amount of LB, FB, and TEs based upon our need for those specific positions, not based upon what we have left over from other positions. This ain't Texas, where they recruit 10 DL per class and convert them top other positions...

Hey don't shoot the piano player! I like the kid and his Mom as much as anyone. It is kind of like Texas in that OSU would take the best Athlete who fits the matrix.

There are a number of kids out there who are currently planning on going to OSU that have not made their choice known. Additionally, for what ever reason, there are some kids who have commited that won't come. I personally do not see Brandon as a Buckeye. And I would bet he likes MSU.

[EDIT] So there are no melt downs, for "what ever reason" means just that. A change of heart, grades, etc.

As Conley said in his first Chat, there are kids who drop off.

Todd Porter from Canton Rep weighs in on Long

GlenOak’s Long leads

Pound for pound the best high school football player I’ve seen through four weeks is GlenOak tight end Brandon Long. He is a physical specimen who manhandles opposing teams.

Long, who has been offered a scholarship by Cincinnati and is starting to get serious looks from the Big Ten, is 6-foot-3, 230 pounds.

Give McKinley running back-safety Ryan Brinson credit for toughness. Brinson laid a strong hit on Long at the end of the second half that jarred a pass loose. Brinson is giving up about 60 pounds and five inches.

Rivals Premium

Long lists scUM St. as his favorite school among the schools that have offered because he has visited there. Coaches from Ohio State call him every week and think he could play tight end, fullback, linebacker or defensive end but have not offered yet. Indiana and Iowa are also high on his list.
