Here's a thought, maybe it is just an OSU fan, does it have to be a dad? I hope it is... but it may not be. Anyways, it's a damn shame we lost out on McCoy, but LB wasn't a huge need. He still have Freeman, Hoobler, Laurinaitis, Glenville grad Terry, Spitler, Lukens, Kerr, Smith and probably Kearney now for when the current crop graduates. We still have a solid class, a top 10 class. Gwaltney has yet to decide, and several other top players are still sorting thorugh their college offers. We will live.

Sure, Ohio State will have a lot back next. But so will Tenn, so will USC, so will Miami, so will Oklahoma, so will Michigan, so will Texas. Even though those teams have a lot back for next year, they still go out and land the best of the best. Having players back should NEVER, EVER be used as an excuse for not landing top flight prospects.

I'm saying that could be a reason McCoy didn't choose tOSU. Too much competition for him. :)

I dont think he was giving an excuse but instead proving that the sky is actually not falling.

The loss of one player will not ruin an incredible crew of LBs

Best wishes to Rico in hopes that he has a fine college career. I'm a little disapointed in Ricos' decision but Ohio State still has a great linebacker crew. Animal Jr., Hoobler, Freeman Lukens & company will do just fine in years to come ...

Let's not go down the road of speculation. For all I know, the biggest reason McCoy chose Tenn. was the MoC circus. I don't think he really gives a hoot about any of OSU's underclassmen.

Of course the sky is not falling. We will never be subpar at Ohio State in the linebacking department. But is that what we strive for, not having the sky topple? I know no one is in a really gorgeous mood right now. I guess this is just a complaint that I have for the fan base. We always think to ourselve that we are going to be all right as long as the "sky is not falling" while we just sit and watch as superior teams like USC and OU keep on stockpiling. We can't be content. We can't be complacent. The job of the fan base is not to be apologists, it is to point out the short-comings of the programs.
