'04 OH RB Delbert Ferguson (Cincy signee)

With Haw and Pittman in the fold... DF wasn't going to get an offer from OSU (the staff was still after the kid that went to ND, and Kennedy at the time)...

DF was known as a fumbler... right or wrong... alot of the bigger programs stayed clear due to that... the broken leg made matters worse for him...

This is one reason, why verballing early can and does make sense...

A close friend of my brother had several offers on the table to D1 schools, but was holding out to try to get an OSU offer... when it came down to NLOI day, most had pulled the scholie, and his options were limited (he still signed and played at the D1 level on a full scholorship, just at the MAC level not upper level where several offers were resended)...

Delbert Ferguson

Good article on Delbert in the Cincy Enquirer today 4/21/05. Says that his broken leg is almost healed and he is looking forward to a good season contributing the the UC backfield and coach Dantonio.

I bring this up because at this point it looks like a good move for JT and staff to pass on Delbert, sounds like the leg might never be the same as before he broke it. Just reinforces my belief that I trust JT when it comes to evaluating talent.

So I was peering through my new Lindy's rag and was surprised to see Delbert Ferguson STILL listed as 2nd string as a LB for his senior year.

So much for being "the next great RB out of Ohio".

If he is able to get his degree and pay for a college education because of his football ability; I'll congratulate him and consider him to have had a "very successful college football career".

Weird, I was just thinking the same thing when I went to open this thread!

Good luck to Delbert wherever life may lead him.
