'04 FL WR/DB Dajuan Morgan (N.C. State signee)

When the story on Miles Williams broke, my first reaction was how can Tressel do such a thing, and I am as big a homer as there is on the OSU boards. Come to find out that it wasn't Tressel at all. Now I am reading a newspaper story that is quoting only FL high school administrators and coaches. Couple that with the fact that after Morgan was supposedly told about this, one of the Bucknuts reporters had contact with him in a general follow up and not one word about this was mentioned. If I am wrong about OSU's involvement here, I will be man enough to admit it. However, something just doesn't feel right about this entire thing.

I have rarely found the Bucknuts board to be more amusing than it is today. The entire front page is filled with Morgan threads. 'Fire Holbrook', 'I want someone's head', 'OSU is just trying to free up a schollie', 'We are no better than (insert your least favorite coach here)', 'This will destroy future recruiting', 'Tressel is irresponsible', and on and on.

Yet, just as with Williams, we have no knowledge of OSU's position on this whatsoever. More to the point, if - as many suggest - this is some deliberate act intended to free up a schollie what on earth is the motivation? This kid was a gamble prior to his senior season during which he proved it was an excellent gamble. The very idea that JT would pull such a stunt flies in the face not only of his words but his every action throughout his career. I have to believe OSU wants this kid.

Reasonable speculation points to one of two explanations. 1. There is something in the kids academic profile that would keep him from being accepted and it either did not exist when he was recruited or was so subtle that it did not immediately become apparent. 2. Somebody in an administrative position at OSU screwed up. As an OSU grad I can promise you THAT happens all the time.

Unfortunately the University and football staff cannot defend itself. On the surface this news is disturbing. Equally disturbing is how quickly so many are willing to jump to bizarre conclusions based on half the facts.

Bucknuts shut down the board after the UCLA loss because it was out of control. It was NOTHING then compared to how it's been on good days this season, and now it's just beyond repair. At least until people chill the hell out and realize that no one yet knows enough to start talking of lynch mobs. Why that recruiting forum hasn't been squelched yet is beyond me. When I think about the possibility of a current or future recruit reading some of that stuff, or worse, his parents...

I cant believe that so many people on Bucknuts are posting e-mail addresses of Holbrook and Geiger. It would be the Dean of admissions that should be to blame for this taking so long.

As far as I can see the major problem coming from OSU's side is that this didnt occur until 2 weeks prior to LOI day. That really handcuffs the kid. Other than that I dont feel that I, or anyone else, has enough information to really make an educated judgement of any of the above.

No question that this is a bad situation. The article that started the fun mentioned him breaking down in tears when he found out. I am livid that somehow a kid with a 3.25 GPA and a 4 digit SAT score is somehow not academically suitable for our school. I'm incensed that the reaction attributed to Conley was something of dumbfounded surprise.

There's been a major breakdown, and a kid has suffered. Maybe due to something he's done. Maybe due to a total clusterf*ck on OSU's side. Maybe due to a complete misunderstanding or miscommunication.

I'm going to hold off on calling for people's heads until I know more details, and frankly, I'm not holding my breath until those arrive. They may never.

I said a long time ago when I first started this board that I wasn't going to let this place turn into a vehicle to bash another site... But I have to say this SOMEWHERE...

You've got a forum that has spiraled completely out of control over the Morgan situation. People are jumping to conclusions, calling for mass emails on various members of the administration, dragging the program and university through the mud, etc.

So do you try to get more details to this mob so to try and diffuse the situation? Try and educate them to the facts of the situation so that the fire can die down a bit?

NO. Apparently you make your content on the hot issue subscriber only. Paints a clear picture of priorities to me. Which isn't to say I fault them for being concerned about a buck, just that I wish it didn't feel like that over-rides concerns about your site possibly causing harm.

I agree completely Clarity. Thank God that someone said it.
I used to love going over there before the NC. Now the number of "fans" has doubled and they just post on the rumors. Its sad.

Regarding the Morgan fiasco.
After reading more about this I feel that a simple mistake was made in admissions and it will be made right today. (Fingers crossed!)

Ah yes, some amount of sanity over here. Bucknuts, even the pay forum is out of control. Right now all we have is less than half the story and everyone is going ballistic. Just need to sit tight and see what develops.

In the meantime all the name calling, screaming, posting of e-mail addresses and the like are NOT good for tOSU.

(Clarity.....thanks man!). I found you guys back in Nov, thanks to Oh8 but then got a new computer over T-Giving and didn't save my favorites and couldn't remember where you guys were.

I don't know which has been more entertaining this winter, the actual recruiting speculation that goes on in general or the constant meltdowns on BK.

First it was Ginn, then Davis, now Morgan. This isn't life and death folks, just college football.......

Thanks for the site Clarity...

Can somebody point to a link where Morgan's SAT score is actually documented? I've heard 1160 thrown around, but that is a misinterpretation of the article from the Palm Beach Post:
"Ninety-nine percent of my seniors take the SAT and the average mean score is 1,160."

Bucknuts has totally gone to shit, and I don't care if Larrabee reads this and bans my ass. Not only does totally chaos ensue on the most unproven hearsay, but regulars of the board are denied info which could help defuse the situation all the while being bombarded with pop-ups (I do have pop-up blocking, but many of the pop-ups are to invalid addresses which cause script errors on my machine, which is just as much a problem). It essentially is no longer his site but The Insiders' site.

We need to keep BuckeyePlanet asshole-free (myself not withstanding).

I really feel for this young man - I am on his side in the sense that I want to see him catch a break in life after all he has been through. I sincerely hope that somebody made a mistake and the Morgan does in fact end up at OSU. But not at the expense of being admitted against university policies. Yeah, it goes on elsewhere and it even has gone on at OSU in the past (I am a homer - I am not naieve), but things have changed. I sincerely hope the whole story comes out. The big lineman now at NC State ended up with an NCAA suspension when everybody was questioning Tressel's sanity. Miles had a deficiency in his record. In light of what has gone on the past few years, I will wait for all the facts before I cast my judgment.

The family seems to be out on the interview circuit. If they want me to believe that everything is A OK, why not release his entire academic record so I can judge for myself?

Man... I was just over on Bucknuts for the first time in a few hours and I feel like I need a shower.

What is emailing the administration going to do? The way some of these "fans" are acting is just flat out embarrasing.

It's a shame... I used to really like that site (still do to a point).
