We beat you, and went on to win the National Championship. You beat us, and went on to play the most horrific National Championship disaster in the history of the BCS. And we're the underachievers, lol?
Still, I am picking you to win your game, then go on to a bowl and get beat by a team with...
SLOWHIO STATE?
You should do well against Michigan. They have an immoblie quarterback. It is when you play mobile quarterbacks that you have problems. Vince took you down. The Florida QB's were mobile, and so was Juice Williams. Better hope you play another Big Ten team in your bowl game, or it...
Carr only proved what the Big Ten has denied for a long time
The Big Ten game rewards slower, bigger players--bulk over speed. In today's game, with spread offenses and speed everywhere, the Big Ten teams are going to be outclassed. Saturday's game merely hammared home the point.
There is nothing "what if" about my argument. My case is predicated on the results of the two games. After the results (the facts) are in, I draw a conclusion. You may disagree with my conclusions, but there is no speculation about what might have happened in it. "What if" has nothing to do with...
Great post. I think you have answered the question. We really do have to divide the points into two arguments. One is that OSU played better over two games. The second being that the Texas win was ultimately more important, being that it had title victory implications. You played so much better...
This is a great post and I agree with the sentiment. Yes, you did have bad breaks in the first game, but hey, so did we. as you stated, ee had fumbles, and interceptions that gave you great field position, but our defense provided the margin. In the scond game, the Pittman fumble was huge, but...
Well, if high government officials can deny having made statements, so can this average citizen. Regardless, Texas was the best defense he faced, outside of Florida's. Your team was able to drive, mostly on the ground, but was, for the most part, reduced to field goals.
Troy Smith would not have changed the outcome of the 2005 game by playing more. He had plenty of chances to win it. You are forgetting that he allowed himself to be sacked for a safety to end any chance of winning.
I've read all the comments. I've thought about the different points, counterpoints.
My argument is sound and correct.
Everyone is wrongly comparing Texas '07 with Ohio State '07.
You need to compare Texas '06 with Ohio State '07. Each team had all the pieces in place. Each team had...
I agree that there's no shame in losing to the champs. There is shame in how you lost. Again, I'm not defending our season, which basically sucked, but I wasn't aware that we lost to OU. As I recall, we beat them handily, 28-10. Has there been some post season re-working of the score that I...
Disppointing is a better word. for you, you werre disppointed that you didn't win the whole enchalada. For us, we were disppointed that we didn't get to a BCS game.
Also, the post about Mack Brown was much more spiteful than my post.
i want to retract my claim that we both had mediocre seasons. It's more a statement about my team's play. Getting to the NC game is a great accomplishment. Incidentally, anyone who reads my posts in this thread can see that I reserve all of my harshest words for my own team, the Longhorns.
Perhaps I haven't expressed my views well enough. The series does have everything to do with what the teams did afterwards. The first Texas/OSU will be remembered as a classic, with the winner winning the NC. The second game will be remembered for what it was. A one-sided win between two teams...
