I agree with several of the above posters about Wilhelm being a sure thing on the LB crew (behind only Hawk). We tend to forget that Wilhelm was an All-American (first team by many selectors) and the vocal and physical leader of the defense that led OSU to its first NC in 34 years.
I don't want to sound whiny, but for some reason this struck a cord with me. I think Coach Tressel looks for football players with character and that transcends how tight-knit a family they may have. Look at the Troy Smiths and the other players on the team that came from broken families, but...
"I'm assuming it's harder ,than most Big10 schools, to get accepted as a player. Do their athletic admissions mirror their overall admissions?"
Like someone else posted, NU has to lower admissions requirements for football players (like every other NCAA in the country D1, D2 and D3). However...
Bowl record by itself is a poor indicator of how strong a conference is. Conferences with teams that travel well will be awarded bowl games that are beyond their rankings.
Hell, I swear Northwestern outdrew UCLA in the Sun Bowl (in El Paso!).
However, I must admit, UM losing to Nebraska was...
Very Sad
My thoughts go out to the Woods family. It is such a horrible tragedy and ridiculous that it is trying to be sensationalized by some segments of the media (Daily News/Fox). They should be ashamed.
NYC is such a safe place these days (much safer than Columbus), for a talented young...
On BN it may have been homerism, but someone said he had 2 personal fouls, one a hard hit that was questionable and the slap after he was tackled and someone tried to twist his knee on the ground. Either way, a little mean in your LBs isn't all bad, look at Vrabel.
I too really like Quinn Pitcock. I think he's the most important player on the defense (I know, I know, but I truly think we have enough depth at LB to make up for Hawk to a certain extent). He definitely is one of the top 5 most important on the team and I'd say top 5 best also. He's a mauler...
It is evident from the Northwestern and Wisconsin games from last year and the Spring Game yesterday that Ohio State's fans leave something to be desired. I think Nebraska's program in the 90s was built on steroid-laden monsters, but their fans are definitely something to be proud of.
The day Texas goes undefeated and doesn't qualify for the BCS will be the day... well, it'll be a very rare day.
All other problems have been solved in this great state. Ignore the man behind the curtain.
"I do take comfort in the fact that we have no state income tax"
Of course we...
Wouldn't it be a good thing if "Milligan is FAR superior to Robiskie"? The Bucks have Robiskie and he seems like a great prospect. Now we probably are in on Milligan, so the better he is the more potential the Bucks have to gain another great player.
I'm excited.
Last nite was a little rough, the Cavs just let down after the Bryant injury, but all is not lost. Hopefully they can pull out at least 3 of the next 5.
And the loss to the Bulls is beginning to not look so bad. The Bulls are the second hottest team in the East right now. If the other...
"What about Ed Martin and Michigan? I don't know any of the details but it seems there was litigation in that case before he died."
I believe Ed Martin's troubles were because of illegal gambling and tax evasion. The whole C-Webb thing was a way to launder the money he made from the...
Actually this happens to Penn quite a bit. Not a lot of lay people know there is a difference between Penn State and Penn. Needless to say, Penn is not super excited about this oversight.
