    2024-2025 College Basketball General Discussion

Duke obviously is a team that relies heavily on their stars, they showed tonight they didn't rely enough on the bench. In a tournament like this, you can't be gassed down the stretch and expect to win close games.

Heckuva comeback by Houston. Duke was just worn out down the stretch while Houston surged.

    2024-2025 College Basketball General Discussion

You know in the NCAA tournament, in highly competitive games, clutch guard play is the difference-maker. Florida had it, Auburn didn't. I thought the refs helped Auburn more than they should have. Florida deserved to win that game with the way Clayton played.

ttun basketball (Juwan out, Dusty May in)

Lendeborg, the #1 ranked player in the On3 transfer portal, committed to UM. Dusty May knows how to make a splash in the portal.

It will be interesting to see what an offseason with the OSU strength coaches can do for him.

    PG Bruce Thornton (All-B1G)

Clearly we're in a new era of college basketball. In recent years before NIL, a player like Bruce who plays 3 years in college, develops his game to the fullest, and has a chance of being drafted in the second round would be as good as gone. This is certainly an example of NIL helping...

    2025-2026 Ohio State Men's Basketball

Good question. Holtmann brings up a lot of question-marks. Like why was Zed Key his target for a high school recruit when we needed help in the post, what was it that Zed brought that was a particular fit for Ohio State? He's a good player, don't get me wrong, but undersized, below-the-rim...

    OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Well, first of all, we have to keep in mind that the transfer portal does not offer unlimited options. There are only going to be a handful of quality big men in there every year, and it's very easy to overrate the talent in the portal because when teams are desperate for talent, everyone looks...

    OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Look at 1 year ago. UM had a terrible season, fired the coach. They were NOT "killing it" at all. But they snagged 5 starters out of the portal, including high value players like Goldin and Wolf. If we keep Bruce, I'm just asking us to get 1 high value player.

    OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

I have to ask, as I see other similar type programs out there landing good players out of the portal left and right. Does OSU seriously not have the NIL that other programs like UM, Auburn and Alabama have? It makes no sense to me that those other programs are out there snaring good players...

    PG Bruce Thornton (All-B1G)

I'm not so sure why he's so confident Bruce will be back, but obviously he knows more than we do. I guess for Bruce, perhaps NIL is looking like the better financial choice for next year. Get that 4th year at OSU, it may well pay better than being a second round pick or UDFA.

He would be a big boost from the nothing we have right now, obviously we badly need bigs for the rotation, I just wish we were recruiting big men that opposing bigs couldn't back down in the post.

OSU has gotten 6'10" 235# Jalen Washington to visit. https://scarletandgame.com/the-ohio-state-basketball-team-hosted-a-unc-basketball-transfer-on-a-visit He fits the Holtmann mold.

Well the article from March 27 stated OSU had a zoom meeting with Christoph Tilly, 7-foot 225# center from Santa Clara who averaged 12 ppg and 4.9 rpg last season en route to 2nd-team all WCC. I don't think Tilly is what we need. Pharrel Payne (A&M) is in the portal, he's 6'9" 230#, could be...

    2025-2026 Ohio State Men's Basketball

The real competitive programs at the top of college basketball have been well ahead of OSU the last several years. We're just not on that level of competitiveness, organization and cohesion right now. Coaches like Izzo, Pearl, Sampson, Scheyer have a plan for the talent they need to build their...

    OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

It's not ideal. I'm not sure what we're doing, although I believe Bruce Thornton's decision is going to be a big domino that we need to drop. Once we know what's going on with Bruce, we'll be able to move forward with the backcourt. But we're pretty bare in the post, and so I'd like to have...

    OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

I remember last year for some reason our coaches were recruiting Tucker Anderson, a Central Arkansas wing who was in the portal. Luckily, it seemed we had enough wisdom to not put the full court press on the young man, but I believe the Buckeyes did host him for a visit. But why the hell were we...
