That's pretty slick. I may well try that if I run across a dead LCD monitor sometime. I'm not gonna go buy one, but If I ever find a dead one, that will be one of my first thoughts. It would make for a nice big-screen in the dorm room.
This is all that is in my hosts file for now, I'm going to start editing it to remove annoying hosts. The only line you need is the localhost, everything else is commented out.
EDIT: Upon further review I would be careful using this method. The linked site notes that a hosts file over 135kb...
I doubt that it matters. Unless all 6-7 computers are always downloading/streaming stuff you probably don't even touch your max bandwidth. Network users are almost always idle.
I'm on a decent sized network, probably 2000-3000 user network. We just got hooked straight into a pure fiber network, and that makes me real happy. You're also a good bit farther away from the servers than I am, so that may skew it a little bit.

That's the thing. I think that the dual boot thing is kinda funny for a Mac. If I were to buy one, it would be simply to have the Mac OS on my system. They are good for video/music editing, but there are programs for Windows too. To me the only plus to them is that they aren't running on...
Right....sorry about that. I was thinking about that today and realized what you were talking about. I do think that those jumps are unacceptable, especially for the price. I was pretty tired as I tried to respond to that one...
Man, gimme $3000 and I'll put together a desktop (or even laptop) that would make the mac look like a graphing calculator. And what the heck, I'd even throw in a backlit keyboard for kicks :wink2:.
