From how I am reading events of the last week...
He shouldn't be able to go into this draft thing because his status hasn't changed since the regular draft. He was out for 5 games since Dec, and as the NCAA has said there are no new charges, his status is unchanged.
What is great news for...
Calling out the commish...
is one thing, and probably most the players in the league agree....
But calling your own team out in puplic like this? Don't want him on my team.... It wasn't even right after the loss where you can blame the heat of the moment for it. There is a time and place...
I think the route running and the catching won't be the issue, its learning to do the other things a TE does that he's SOOO far behind on. If he can't make it at QB I would think he'd have a better shot at sticking as a WR.
Thoughts
If the Bowl game was let to stand, down the road when Auburn finally gets there's wouldn't they be able to argue that The NCAA had said that there cheating QB was ruled eligible to play?
If I look at it in a vacuum I think there is no question the bowl win should stand, but from a...
I was talking more out of the help my team out slant, if he doesn't fight them..... isn't he leaving it to the NCAA to assume guilt and hit with a bigger hammer.
I guess its just me, but I'd want to try to leave the program in as good as possible shape, but then again I wouldn't have traded...
Won't he still have to talk to them? If he doesn't defend himself and clear up alot of the issues that have been overblown won't the school possibly face a more harsh punishment because the NCAA will assume everything is true.
At the end of the Day
I think he is a coach that is out of his era, todays big money game with its rules and "handlers" and all the junk that comes with it just was to much for him and what he's best at. Great coach, and teacher of men... Put him in the 50's and 60's or let him coach D3...
Correct me if I am wrong
How I read the new article about Brian, there actually is nothing bad for the program at all... Unless I missed it he was offered something and he turned it down. He didn't say the coaches offered him the car... he could be talking about me offering him the car...
Nothing I have seen so far.....
Nothing I have seen so far has lead me to believe that kids knew BEFORE they stepped foot on campus about "perks" that some have been now proven to get and some others have been accused to have gotten. So I would say no competitive advantage.
Now if it comes...
I still think Auburn is going to BURN for this... its just going to take a few years, somewhat like the USC situation. You are right though the local media is there, and will always be digging for the story..... its just a matter of when not if.
I'm just to old...
I like the idea of kids playing 3 sports and having most of the summer to be kids....
Team camp for a week in the summer I am good with, but all the basketball and football traveling teams playing almost year round leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
When Kids are playing for...
agree with the article
I think this really gets to the heart of the problem, I think very few if any of college kids go demanding perks.... but they sure as hell arn't going to turn them down.
Don't think the problems will ever go away while fans are throwing perks at the players... It...
4 days of reading to catch up..... lol
Very enlightening thread really. I have shifted my views allot during the reading of every message in the thread... (admit to skimming some of the walls of text... sorry :P) I won't attempt to change a view because I think its very safe to assume those...
The Future of college sports
Either you have the schools pay the big dollars.... (as somebody posted all of 18 schools make a profit)
Or you let boosters pay the big dollars....
Both make me feel dirty for different reasons, and both will lead to a very small pool of schools playing major...
