Everyone on that side of the bracket got a huge break when Marshall breaks his wrist. If Marshall stayed healthy, I would have been stunned by anything other than a Kentucky and North Carolina final.
Some observations/reflections from a basketball first football second Ohio State fan after another crushing defeat
1) Kansas certainly looks like a team of destiny, with Purdue and OSU blowing leads at the end of games, avoiding foul trouble almost the whole tournament, and having Kendall...
Kentucky is going to crush Kansas. They have 6 of the best 8 players in the game. Too much talent for Kentucky. I'll enjoy them vacating it in a few years and having no one win it.
Inexcusably bad possession by Ohio State at the end of the half. Horrible way to end what was a good half. YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE LAST SHOT.
Great half otherwise by Craft.
There are a bunch of oblivious undergrads. I was on a packed bus sitting across from Aaron Craft in the middle of this past basketball season and maybe 2 people out of 35 knew who he was.
Vrabel takes a near daily run right through the oval on the long walk. He runs a mean pace. What is sad is that a vast majority of the undergrads have no idea who he is. Vrabel is one of those guys who will be a scary looking dude when he's 75.
Someone brought this up earlier but the real loss is the extra training time and competitive games these guys would get to play together. Even if this team had made the olympics, they probably were not going anywhere given their struggles with Canada and El Salvador. From what I've read it seems...
Florida State is a terrible match up for Ohio State in the Sweet 16. Long, athletic, and deep and they just beat Duke and Carolina in 48 hours on the road essentially. I will be surprised if OSU beats Florida State.
The poor transition defense and lack of ball movement really hurt. If OSU moves the ball like they did at the beginning of the second half, they are tough to beat. Also, last two times OSU won the Big Ten Tournament they lost in the Sweet 16, hopefully this will give them some extra fire. Maybe...
