This is a good point. A guy like Clark or Wilson would have a good chance of contributing immediately. An OL wouldn't.
I also think that the 2014 OL is in better shape than many seem to think with the kids already here. Plus, the ability is there to be a very appealing option to some elite...
It feels like there is a bit of a perfect storm brewing for a big time OL class. A small class of 2 or 3 guys this year. Transfers of guys like O'Connor and Brown making the overall numbers pretty low. And 4 starters graduating leaving open the legit possibility of competing for instant playing...
Getting Bell and at least one of Clark/Wilson would be an incredible way to wrap up this class already outstanding class.
This class should really up the overall team speed.
On offense, guys like Jacobs. Marshall, Elliott, Smith and if they land Wilson and/or Clark would be a ridiculous...
Not to further derail the thread, but Warriner did a great job closing out the 2012 class. His prior relationship with Decker was a big help.
2013 has definitely been a struggle. I would argue that a big part of that is due to the fact that OSU got such a late start. This staff was behind the...
Kind of seems like 3 is the number, so if Bell is out, we could probably take all 3 of the Oregon guys. As far as positions/needs, I also think they fit. Tyrell seems like he is probably best suited for defense. Similar build to Shazier and has some nice highlights pass rushing off the edge...
Could be an instant impact guy on special teams like Brian Rolle was back in the day. One of the consequences of a lack of LB depth is struggles on coverage units for kick offs and punts, which we definitely saw last year. So you have to look at him both as a possible D starter down the line...
To get the topic back more to Bell, I was extremely impressed with him in the UA game. He stood out with his combo of physicality and coverage ability. I want to get him more than any other 2013 undecided recruit and it's not really even close.
He seems like one of those guys who is arguably...
I agree with you that the star position will be an open competition and Bell has a chance there as do guys like Bogarde, Brown, Burrows, etc.
I do think you underrate a little bit how well both Bryant and Barnett played down the stretch though. They both struggled often in the first half of...
I wouldn't say replaceable, both Bryant and Barnett are good safeties. The big difference between us and Bama is that our two guys are seniors. Theirs are young guys. Plus, they have some young five star guys like Landon Collins waiting in the wings.
I think he's a long shot to start at...
Check out the highlights vs Bishop Ryan. Looks like he has 3 TD catches in that highlight and a couple of them were really nice catches. I was wondering about if he could make the transition to WR at the next level and those few highlights from that game make me more confident he can.
I just wonder if the timing with Watson won't end up working out. At some point the Buckeyes will have to move on and get a QB commit.
Plus, I think there is a good chance that Morris ends up leaving next year around this time and that maybe Watson opens things up then. But if that happens...
They've actually had multiple guys see him live this year and just weren't overly impressed. So I doubt you see him move up much at all.
Always interesting when there are such big differences in opinion, but he obviously has some real upside if some are so high on him, including Urban Meyer.
I agree with all of this, but especially the bolded portion. I really like how wide of a net has been cast. Seems like the alleged Plan-Bs this year are Plan A guys in most other years and for almost every other program. I think this is especially true at the WR position.
I think part of what...
He has a severe ankle sprain, s he's not playing. I would assume though that the ACT is pretty early on Satursay morning though, so he may want to get home early on Friday night.
Would love to see him in this class and for some reason I think he ends up here. You can tell how well he moves in those clips on defense. A couple years with Mariotti and Warriner and this kid could be a big time player.
