I wasn't saying people can't root for whatever pro team they want, I'm just saying you don't see people picking random geographic teams that all suck-like the Indians/Lions/Timberwolves trifecta. If you see people w/ geographic variance in their pro affiliation, it is usually something like...
Well, I would say the different colleges/different sports things trumps the bandwagon thing in terms of being a problem, IF said fan remains a fan of the bandwagon team continually , regardless of a sudden downturn-ala-scUM:D.
Then again, who ever hears of team splitters rooting for a team...
You act as if you didn't expect that going in. Eating shrimp from Taco Bell is like wearing a Pittsburgh jersey in the middle of the
Dawg Pound-you know something horrible is going to happen before you do it.
No kidding-I think the real problem is that
A-gyros just aren't as recognized among the public as burritos, and
B-the best gyros are always at the neighborhood places where they are greasy and the owner makes huge gyros.
They opened a causal gyro type place like you describe in Kettering, and...
When I was an undergrad, the tOSU rifle team coach Pat Cherry taught an archery class I took-very cool guy. I believe tOSU has had several NCAA pistol/rifle champs in the past decade or so.
I can understand how people at IU could think that-I have been there twice and it was like a home game-O-H-I-O around the stadium, and the locals in Bloomington couldn't believe how much pre-gaming the Buckeye fans were doing. Then again, IU always takes aerial photos for the recruiting brochure...
I kinda disagree with this article. Nebraska fans are among the best in the nation-period. As for tOSU fans-whiny,fickle,spoiled,prone to demanding too much from kids immediately-yes, those are adjectives that could accurately applied to large segments of the fanbase. Rude and arrogant-not...
The issue is splitting your primary fandom by sport, not necessarily being a Duke hoops fan(although personally I think that presents a whole nother' set of problems). If you would root for Duke over the Buckeyes in hoops, yes, that is wrong.
Ok-theoretical question for you-or anyone else on the board. How do expansion teams fit in for pro fandom? I hate hockey and could care less about the Blue Jackets, but is it cool for an NHL fan in Columbus to switch allegiances to the Blue Jackets b/c they are local? I don't know.
I do have a...
Let's see
1-In my book, you are a-or should be-a fan of The Ohio State University first and foremost. You will at least take a glance at the women's synchronized swimming results if the Buckeyed are involves. If you are from Ohio-or any other state and a fan of any other team, you cannot do...
I saw this last night and thought it was a very solid flick. I can't say I thought the child leads were phenomenal, but everything worked very well. For all the critical praise it has received, it was a pretty much by the numbers vampire and/or school bully movie-just very well done.
Bruno. Tried to be a gay version of Borat. Some very funny scenes, but overall it wasn't nearly as good as Borat-the reaction from the interviewees wasn't as good, and the backstory/plot didn't have nearly as many humorous elements as well.
Finally watched Inglourious Basterds. Shallow, self indulgent crap from Tarantino, w/ zero intelligence. He needs to get a dialogue driven script w/ some moxie, instead of the film-geek tributes his last couple of films have become. Brad Pitt proved again why he is one of the most overrated...
Mack Brown had them at this point 10 years ago before moving to Austin, then they had to go out and start all over again, w/ the hiring of Butch Davis 3 years ago. The program wasted 7 years between two of the absolute best coaches in the country-but each one had a major rebuild job to do at the...
