2017 CFB Bowl Games Open Thread

Should they take recent performance into consideration? No. Do they? Absolutely. It's human nature, for better or worse. You're the committee, you have to pick the 4 *best teams* to compete for a NC. This year, when you went by resume, you picked the Top 3 pretty easily. The last spot was the...

You don't win 5 fucking titles by luck or 'being handed them'. Didn't hear much complaining when we were in the playoff last year despite not winning our division, either. Saban has earned the benefit of the doubt, plain and simple. If we win 5 titles over 10 years, maybe one day we will too.

I only brought it up because I suggested putting in Burrow for a series last year, after it was clear JT was off his game, and I got my head bitten off. Stubbornly sticking with the 'conventional wisdom' got us 31-0. The exact opposite of what happened today. I may hate Saban, but damn do I...

Impossible to say. Regardless, how much worse would a new QB have done than 31-0 ?

Maybe, maybe not. No use crying over spilled milk. If we took care of business last season instead of laying an egg and embarrassing the committee, we might have gotten the call instead of Bama.

This game had all the makings of another 31-0. Glad Saban had the balls to do what needed to be done.

S Vonn Bell (All B1G, All-American, National Champion, Cincinnati Bengals)

Bell with the game-saving pass defense and the subsequent game-ending sack of Cam Newton. How about them Buckeyes?

Sure, we played ball control in the 2nd half. But in the 1st half when our game plan was open, we again only scored 3 points that were not off a short field secondary to a turnover. And it’s not like this is a new development - our O struggled all season. I’m guessing you watched the Oklahoma...

Maybe, maybe not. To be honest, I don’t think so given how the Oklahoma game went. Regardless, given the fact that Bama will likely win this game and go on to win the NC, it seems like sour grapes to complain about the committees choice now.

Last year, I think, one of the moderators made a player by player graph comparing OSU and Michigan by player recruiting rankings. I was curious so I did the same for OSU vs Alabama. Let’s just say the results were eye opening. Not sure how the 247 criteria work but there was a significant...

2017 CFB Bowl Games Open Thread

You watched our bowl game, right? We scored exactly 3 pts that didn’t come off a turnover. And we weren’t up against world beaters - the USC defense was thoroughly mediocre in every category over the season. Regardless, no need to stress over what-ifs. We’ll be right in the thick of things next...

The talent differential between Alabama and every other top 5 team, if you purely go by recruiting rankings, is the same as the talent differential between us and Michigan. They have 5-stars at 3rd string throughout the roster. I got some hate for saying it, but they’re the better team this...

Game Thread 2017 Cotton Bowl: OSU vs. USC - 12/29/17 @ 8:30 ET (ESPN)

It's been fun making jokes at Darnold's expense, but I really have to hand it to him for his conduct leading up to, during, and after the game. He's been the epitome of class, giving respect where it is due and shouldering the blame for what went wrong. I hope he finds success at the next level.

So why is he choosing to continue to play football at all? In particular, pro football - which has a greater likelihood of high impact injury and therefore concussions. I won't claim to be in a position to judge, and I'll likely never have to make a similar decision to what he made - but I...

Jayson Oweh (DE Penn State Nittany Lions)

His Twitter "likes" have been 98% in PSU's favor for the past several months, and he seems to interact daily with the other PSU commits. I'm not getting my hopes up, although he would be a heck of a get.

Jaiden Woodbey (DB Florida State, transfer to Boston College)

If he goes to FSU, after being committed here and flirting with USC and Oklahoma for a whole year, I will laugh and have 0 regrets about us not getting him. If he wants to be a Buckeye, great. If not, door is that way - next man up please.
