I think the only time he kept the ball was when he took it for 5-6 yards down to the one foot line, on the drive that ended with Campbell's TD in the first half. I wondered if he wasn't keeping it more because Urban was afraid he'd take a big hit and get hurt.
Except this isn't the typical fans loving the backup QB situation. No one here is suggesting that Martell should supplant Haskins. What we have here is an offense that under Haskins has shown an ability of late to move the ball down the field, only to come to a grinding halt in the red zone...
Have you? Or do you just assume that everything that went poorly when he was in the game must've been his fault, instead of Jordan, you know, the guy who actually false started us into a punt and who snapped the ball a mile to the right?
You also ignore that Martell took OSU to the doorstep...
I like what Tate brings to the table in the red zone because he at least keeps the defense honest--they cannot completely ignore him as a runner like they can with Dwayne. It's a numbers game. That said, Tate wasn't perfect yesterday. I don't know if the coaches told him not to keep it or if...
Agreed. We will need him this year, so I'm hoping to see him soon against some of these lesser opponents--need to get some minutes of live game action under his belt.
Well, then, Alex, you must've been asleep during those evaluations, what with Wint and Pryor trading turns giving up 90+ yard TDs. Maybe he was selectively quoted or his words were taken out of context, but reading that article, Grinch sounds like a complete clown.
JFC, were those refs bad.
That aside, and while I knew OSU couldn't shut down UC the whole game, geez, OSU couldn't get a stop down the stretch. UC had 34 points with 7:52 to play, and then proceeded to score 24 in less than 7 minutes. Need to shore that up.
That said, great, great win on...
I knew they had the inside track, but I hadn't focused on how NW has the west all but wrapped up. They need only win two of these three:
@ Iowa
@ Minnesota
vs. Illinois
And even if they go 1-3 over that stretch, I see neither UW nor Purdue running the table (certainly, they both won't, as...
Exactly. All I read is how awful MSU's QB situation is, and I'm thinking that whether it's Rocky or Lewerke, he'll look like Joe Montana himself come Saturday afternoon.
I agree with this. MSU is #98 nationally against the pass and #1 nationally against the run. We're idiots if we think this o-line is going to go up to East Lansing and push people around.
