Our favorite island is Virgin Gorda (British Virgin Islands). Quiet, no cruise ship pier (although cruise people do take boats over and swarm the Baths at least once a week).
Lots of folks charter boats for the week and sail island to island. Great snorkeling among the boulders, some hiking...

Made Buckeyes and brought them to work. Anyone who wants one must say "Go Bucks!". Other than that, there is a UM sticker at the bottom of my trashcan. It has been there for years now. The sticker was left by a co-worker in his office when he changed jobs. Every day, I dump my rubbish on top...
Fair number of attorney jobs in the Federal Government (nationwide, not just DC). Right now there is a big hiring push for veterans, so if you have a law degree and you are a veteran, that will bump you up on the Cert list. Suggest you check USAJobs to start. Entry level is usually a GS-11...
If you are ever in Charleston, SC, go to the bar at Husk and order the burger. I was there for work for a week, and of all the great places to eat there, this one was so nice, I had to have it twice. Doesn't hurt that it has a really decent bourbon selection as well...
These two tailgates set up right next to each other. Great people. Great tradition.

The Navy ticket office is now selling reserved parking passes for the game:

Did you get your football tickets from Navy? The message I got was that the parking passes were only for sale for people who purchased their tickets through Navy. Did you buy online or call?

DC is an expensive place. She is probably best off finding other summer interns/clerks and subletting a place from students at GW or Georgetown. I shared a summer place with 3 other folks (a long long time ago) near Georgetown (Glover Park). No metro, but a direct bus to where I needed to get...
In my neighborhood, anything outside the fence is a "curb alert" free for all. It would be gone in an hour. People who had stuff in their yard because they were cleaning out the garage would find it missing in minutes. Just an invitation to the roaming scavengers.
My inlaws frequently tell us that we will have to clean up their hoard. When they run out of space, they just build a new barn to hold more crap.
I once told them 'no problem, I've got a match'. My husband tells me I'm no longer permitted to say this, as apparently they were very unhappy to...
