You have got Buchanan pegged well, doesn't make unforced errors, hits clean, is quick and punishes short balls.
Serve could improve with some strength training, but not many holes when he is in the zone.
Rola's ranking is no fluke, sometimes he can be dominant!
Has been known to play loose at times especially in the 2nd set, when he lapses in focus, but he is a freshman and is much more advanced than Buchanan when he came to OSU. He is not the #4 ranked player in the NCAA for nothing.

Hey Litl, you mentioned on a visitor message, "There are much stronger teams around central Ohio then NA at the top"
But check this out--not too many!
According to the State Tennis Poll. :wink2: Link
    1. St. Xavier (8) 98; 2. Upper Arlington (1) 84; 3. New Albany (1) 73;
Thanks for the update on Julian, must be tough for a senior to have to fight for PT. Have to believe that when the HS championships come around, NA will be sitting pretty with that kind of depth. Thank you also for the link to the Central Ohio tennis info. You are Mr. Tennis recruiting for BP. Looks like Buckeyes will get 2 really good blue chips (Callahan and Diaz) to replace the 3 outgoing seniors. I hope that Rola and Van Engelen choose to return as well next year, they are both going to improve so much under Tucker tutelage!
Actually Litl, you beat me on the Diaz announcement, you told me last year at the state championships that Diaz committed to Ty Tucker. I think he committed then without a scholarship offer however. The delay was waiting to announce and sign his LOI when he knew for sure what portion of scholarship money he would receive.
I know you have some limits but have you made any matches since the snow bowl and how is Julian doing this season at UA?
Are the tennis players at No Albany as tough as pony express?
You know . . . .neither rain, nor cold nor dark of night shall keep. . .
i.e. did Julian finish his match?
And yes I am picking for the Ratbirds, :roll1:
and I still have some friends who haven't abandoned me, so there is that.
I didn't know about breaking your hips... sounded like that might have been recent. Man oh man, I despise drunk drivers even more now, if that's possible.

How are things going over there? We haven't caught up for awhile...
The lady I sat beside seemed to know PK and Buchanan, she also mentioned that she had gotten into some hot water for making a comment at one time that foreign players should not be given the title "all american" for finishing in the top 16 of the NCAA's. I marveled at her insight and bravery.
She also seemed to be concerned that her youngest son would want to hit the tennis ball as hard as the Buckeyes. She teaches him to hit under control and down the middle.
I guess I shouldn't have opened my mouth, but I disagreed that the new wave of tennis was power, I think I said something like, "you can always teach control, but never discourage power." She said that that is why all the players are getting shoulder and knee and hip surgeries. I mentioned that I had just had a hip replacement, she asked the surgeons name, (as if she probably knew most of them) and then got up and left shortly after that.
All in all a very knowledgable tennis fan and a good mom to raise her boys as Buckeye fans! Go Bucks!
