I think the concerns on Sayin are overblown after 2 tough performances against the best teams. He’s not TSC, but his velocity in the spring game was good. It’s mostly him throwing over the middle consistently and taking more chances in tight windows, which is normal growth needed for a young QB...
Looking much better and a year as backup will be a good transition into him starting. Doubt he’ll be nearly as efficient as Sayin, but his arm is going to make games even more exciting.
Went looking for some highlights and you’d think Carr was the starting QB. Didn’t see a single one from Underwood.
Scrubbed through the first quarter and no wonder. Technique looks terrible and casually fastballs every throw over the middle. He’s going to get his receivers killed.
I just see it as Smith’s version of Boyer that Patricia got last year. Couldn’t tell you how good of an idea it is, but it’s someone they like coaching with that makes things run easier.
If I’m not mistaken, ‘69 also led to Woody becoming even more conservative offensively. IMO that loss had a huge effect on ‘70 and ‘73-‘75.
Could’ve been an all time run of NCs. At the very least OSU outright beats the cheaters and wins it all in ‘73.
I’m just happy it’s someone with experience who can run their side of the ball. Hartline wasn’t bad, but had limited experience and arguably vision. Also, Smith is unlikely to take a college HC job, so won’t leave at the worst time.
