Zurp's 2007 Pick 'Em Game

Ok I guess my real question is, how do you win?

If I understand right, its the last man standing? The guy/gal with the most points in teams the final week is the winner. Is that correct? For some reason I was thinking this was a weekly winner type thing and couldnt quite figure out how to earn points in the standings. Please correct me if I'm still wrong.

You're correct that it's a season-long game. It is not a weekly game, with weekly winners. At the end of the season, you sell all of your teams, and the person with the most points wins.

Come to think of it, I haven't offered a prize, yet. Maybe the prize will be my toothbrush. That gross, old thing ought to be pretty ripe by then. I should probably get a new one soon.

Anyway, the standings will be made maybe weekly, but maybe not. I'll figure out how many points each person WOULD have, if he sold all his teams. That does not mean you have to sell all of your teams, at that point.

If you think you've bought teams, but you don't see your name on the list, either point me to your post, where you picked teams, or re-post them.

Also, note that since people are confused, and were late to get teams in, there is no longer a penalty to pick/trade teams before the opening game of the Big Ten season. So if you've picked teams you don't want, you may want to trade them now. But after the first game of the Big Ten season, you may not trade them (until they've played 3 Big Ten games).

The following people have specific issues with their picks:

East Side: I still don't understand your picks. You wrote down teams, and they aren't illegal picks. But the numbers that go with them don't make sense to me. You may want to change your teams. Your current team selection is only 3 teams, and it's not even close to 15 points.

Y'all don't have 4 teams. That's legal and all. I just want to make sure that you know that you CAN choose up to 4, as long as you don't go over 15 points for all 4 teams.

You guys didn't use up all 15 of your points. This is also legal. But I just want to make sure that y'all know that you can still change teams around so that you can use up all 15 points.

I want to dump scUM and the Illini and pick up Penn State, Iowa, and Michigan State

Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Illinois were all winners this weekend. Michigan State did not play a Big Ten team, and did not get a Big Ten win. They stay at 0-0.

*Illinois 1-0
*Michigan 1-0
*Ohio State 1-0
*Purdue 1-0
*Wisconsin 1-0
*Michigan State 0-0
*Indiana 0-1
*Iowa 0-1
*Michigan State 0-0
*Minnesota 0-1
*Northwestern 0-1

* - Teams that are currently "locked." (No buying or selling allowed.)

Three people currently have 3 points:
TheWood - Illinois (1), Michigan (1), and Wisconsin (1)
victor64 - Illinois (1), Michigan State (0), Ohio State, (1), and Purdue (1)
ytownbuckeye - Illinois (1), Michigan State (0), Ohio State (1), and Purdue (1)

14 people have 2 points, and 10 have 1. No one has 0 points.

Next week, eight teams should be available to buy and sell. Minnesota, Indiana, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Penn State, and Ohio State should be available. If you have Michigan, Michigan State, or Purdue, you'll have to wait another week.

Please use a format like this when buying/selling teams:

(These is Zurp's official tradings)

Sell: Iowa (0), Michigan State (0), Penn State (1), Wisconsin (2), Extra (0)
Total = 3 Points

Buy: Minnesota (0), Michigan State (0), Penn State (1), Wisconsin (2), Extra (0)
Total = 3 Points

Note that I sold all of my teams, and then bought three of them, again. I think that this will help me make sure that the points before and points after the trading are correct, and will help me understand what teams you want to have.

If you do not wish to change which teams you have, you do not need to sell all of your teams and then buy them back. But if you do want to buy or sell one team, please sell all of your teams, and then buy back what you want to.

Also, keep track of your "extra" points. At the moment, no one has any extra points. However, if you sell Ohio State this week, and buy Wisconsin, you have one extra point. You do not need to spend it this week, and you can carry over that extra point for later.

Any questions, let me know.

I probably shouldn't bother with telling you all this. The people who are paying attention may poop on a brick or something. It's your choice, so maybe you want to keep it. But a lot of you (10) still have Ohio State. Ohio State has absolutely no chance of beating a Big Ten opponent this weekend. You might as well sell them and buy a team that has a chance to win this week (just remember that you cannot buy Michigan, Michigan State, or Purdue, yet). You can always buy Ohio State back next week, even if the team(s) you choose instead of Ohio State loses this week.
