Zurp's 2007-2008 Bowl Pick'em Game

For those of you who don't know, Muck's Woot is likely caused by the fact that he's taken 2nd place from DBB. You were very close to getting that game correct.

2-6 are all incredibly close. Only 7pts seperating them.

I have no chance of catching BB73 give how close our remaining picks are. Also if Rutgers wins tonight I could drop all the way to #6.

Is there any interest in this game this year? I do this for some friends every year. It shouldn't be any more work to make a second spreadsheet for Buckeye Planet.

Note that some of the point values MAY change this year. But here's the way the game is played (from the first post in this thread):

I'll get a new thread started in the next few days.

If you don't know how to play, just pick the scores of each of the Bowl Games. Of course, you have to pick the scores before the games start. You can either put them all in a reply to this thread, or you can PM them me.

Your score will be based on how close to the actual score you are.

POINTS ARE BAD. You want to get 0.0 points for each prediction. You automatically get 5.0 points if you picked the wrong winner. You also get 0.1 points for every point off the TOTAL SCORE your prediction is, and you get 0.2 points for every point off the margin of victory. By the way, this is where you can get boned: If you predict a 20-17 game, with Team A beating Team B, but Team B wins 20-17, you were 6 points off the margin of victory. That's 1.2 points for you. You also get another 5 points for picking the wrong winner.

The winner is the one with the fewest points at the end of the bowl games.

I would be interested. Here's an alternative for the points, which is the way we play the prediction game in the previews:

Each point off of a team's total is a point, and picking the wrong team to win is 10 points. I think it's easier to understand (no decimals), and for people to track their own score. The value of 10 can be adjusted up or down based on how much of a penalty you want to have for a losing team.

Pick 1 : Team-A 34, Team-B 27. Result was Team-A winning 40-24. Total of 9 points.

Pick 2 : Team-C 28, Team-D 20. Result was Team-C losing 20-27. Total of 25 points (8 + 7 +10).

Sounds OK to me, except:
1. I already have my spreadsheet set up.
2. The way I have it set up isn't going to be changed easily enough for me to feel motivated to do it right now.
3. It might be interesting to see how the standings change switching from one scoring system to the other.
4. I'd like to play that system. If someone wants to set it up, I can submit my predictions.
5. If I can figure out how to zip a file, I'll attach my spreadsheet and people can play. But I don't think I want to do enter everyone's scores by hand.
