Your Top 30 Recruits for 2010

NextBuck

All-American
Like how Rivals and Scout has their 5 star players, and Top 100 I thought maybe we could all make our own personal lists for the Top 30. You can do more players if you wish. Thought it would be fun for people to make to pass the time. Sorry if there is already a thread like this.

1. Jackson Jeffcoat DE Texas
2. Seantrel Henderson OT Minnesota
3. Lache Seastrunk RB Texas
4. Matt Elam ATH Florida
5. Dillon Baxter RB California
6. Louis Nix DT Florida
7. Jordan Hicks LB Ohio
8. Darius White WR Texas
9. LaMarcus Joyner CB Florida
10. Chris Martin OLB California
11. Jamel Turner DE Ohio
12. Jakhari Gore RB Florida
13. Markeith Ambles WR Georgia
14. Austin Hinder QB Colorado
15. Alec Ogeltree S Georgia
16. Michael Dyer RB Arkansas
17. Robert Crisp OT North Carolina
18. Devin Gardner QB Michigan
19. Martavis Bryant WR South Carolina
20. Trovon Reed WR Louisiana
21. Robert Woods ATH California
22. Curtis White TE Oregon
23. Corey Nelson LB Texas
24. Chris Dunkley WR Florida
25. Latwan Anderson S Ohio
26. Brandon Willis DE South Carolina
27. Marcus Lattimore RB South Carolina
28. Todd Chandler DT Florida
29. Corey Brown RB Pennsylvania
30. Andrew Norwell OT Ohio

Random Blurbs:

Jakhari Gore RB Florida: I am higher on him than most, but I've been following him since his freshman year. Besides Devine over that same time span I think he is the best RB to come out of Florida. I'm not sure about his pro prospects, but in college he should be a superstar. He has been dominating the best of Dade County competition since his freshman year. He was the only player to rush for over 100 yards vs. Miami Northwestern their entire season when MNW was a Top 10 team nationally. He is very agile, and only needs to bulk up a little. Could play and be good as a frosh, but a redshirt year would make a him a great player Day 1 his redshirt fresh year.

Austin Hinder QB Colorado: Weakest year for QB that I can think of. Hinder though will be a solid CFB QB. Will he be a Heisman candidate? Probably not, but he is good enough to lead a team to conference titles and possibly a national title (depending on where he ends up). Good size, great arm, and solid mobility. Like Gore, a year or two learning the college game would do him a lot of good.

Marcus Lattimore RB South Carolina: He is a very good player, but I am nowhere near as high on him as others. Some people have him in front of Seatrunk and as a top 5 player. He is productive and I see him being a contributing starter on the next level, but he has no shift. I don't think he can make people miss on the next level. He will be able to smack them in the mouth and when he gets open space he will be able to get those extra yards, but he won't be a game changer like Seastrunk or Baxter.

I'll do more later... I just wanted to do a couple right now on some players that arent the top guys on my list.

Latwan Anderson S Ohio:

I should've figured this one would get some interest . Alright my thoughts on the kid are that his potential is the best out of all the safeties out there. He has good size at 5'11, amazing 4.3 speed, good leaping ability with a 37 inch vertical. He could come in Day 1 wherever he goes and compete for return duties, and if he never lives up to his potential at safety then I at least see him being a successful return man. He needs to work on some things to become more consistent in coverage, but one thing he is good at is big plays. Always has a knack for making a big hit, INT, or score. I like him as a player and can't wait to see how he improves this year at Glenville.

Honestly, I just copied and pasted his profile measurables for that video interview. He is 5'10" or just under that... he will come up and smack you in the mouth all day, but he needs to get bigger.

#30 overall is Eugene Clifford, Craig Loston, Will Hill, Chad Jones territory. Latwan's a good #75-100 type at this point.

It's a down year IMO, and it's early on in the process. Plenty of time to change things, but for now I'd throw him up there for me. Also Will Hill and Loston were Top 10 players. Latwan aint no where near those guys, but he is a Top 5 safety this year.

Also when it comes to size look at guys like Bob Sanders. You don't need to be 6'2.

I put him high up based off potential. I think this year will really test on whether he moves up as high as I have him, or if he drops to the #80-#120 range. I'm really interested to see him in the AA games.

Gardner shouldn't even be allowed to carry a copy of a list of top 30 players, let alone make one.

Anderson, Brown, Nix, Ogletree and Chandler are too high. Norwell is too low.

I just don't see DT's being worthy of top 30 status unless they are 6'4' and 350, run a 4.7, and can bench press a pickup truck full of Hooter's girls.

Valiant effort though.

Nix defintely deserves to be Top 30. I also disagree about Ogletree. He is a Top 20 player from what we know about players this year.

Also, guys make your own lists, so we can see who you think are the best players right now. I mean I have no problem with people critiquing my list, but it would be nice to compare it to something else.

Still disagree. DT's aren't game changers, and don't deserve top 20 honors. Nix is ranked too high.

Ogletree I could end up being wrong on, who knows. I will be more than happy to post my list, and I can be sure it won't include Gardner.

I still can't believe you ranked him that high.

Then why does the NFL place such a high premium on them? A good defense starts up front.

DT play has been big in recent national championship games.

There is a big difference between the NFL evaluating college DT talent and college coaches evaluating HS DT talent.

NFL coaches can pretty much figure out who will succeed at that level, college coaches don't have that luxury of getting players who have 4-5 years of good coaching, a ton of time in the weight room and years of playing against better talent every week to prepare them for that level.

Most people have Gardner as the top dual threat QB, and as a Top 100 prospect. Why is my spot so crazy? I mean we can disagree, but it's not like I put Jeffrey Godfrey up there or something.

Like I said it's still early on and rankings are going to change in our minds. I can honestly say that I don't know as much as I would like to about this class yet, but after camps like USC's, UF's, etc and the all-American games then you can barrage my list if you feel I did something crazy.

Personally I feel Gardner and Hinder are the top QBs in this class at the moment, so thats why they are both in the Top 30.
