DEBuckeye

It ain't easy, bein' cheesy.
What was the best vacation you've ever taken?

I'd have to list two:
The very first paid vacation I ever took after graduating and getting a real job. We went on a three-day whitewater rafting trip on the New River in WV. The weather was awesome, the scenery was awesome, the river was awesome, and I got paid!!!

My honeymoon. We went to Napa and Sonoma valleys in CA to drink wine and eat great food for 10 days. Again, the weather and scenery were awesome, as were the food and wine. We stayed at a couple of really nice Bed & Breakfast places and had a great time. By the end of the trip, we were so sick of wine and "upscale" food (I didn't think it was possible) that we had dinner at a nice corner bar- a big, greasy burger and beer, and it tasted soooo good.

Yosemite Valley in May 2003. I went by myself and had a great time. It's nice doing whatever the hell you want.

Yosemite high country in 2004. Went camping with one of my friends. the scenery is amazing

Honeymoon in Australia. weather could have better, but the food was amazing and Kangaroo Island was definately one of the best places I've ever been.

I've got to list 3. Vacations are a big priority for me.

One week in Japan and 2 weeks in China, back in 1984, before China had been commercialized much. My wife was pregnant with our first child.

Four weeks (with our kids) in Tahiti, New Zealand, Australia and Fiji.

Three weeks in Africa (with our kids) - half on safari in Kenya and Tanzania, and the rest of the time in Egypt.

I have only ever had one bad vacation. My wife and I have different tastes in vacations. I want to go somewhere where I can do things. She wants to go somewhere where she can just sit in the sun. One of our vacations was to Maine. We went on a walk in Acadia. She still refers to it as a "march."

There are a couple

DE, my wife and I had a very similar experience as you. We spent ten days in Northern California. Went from San Fran, to Monterey Penninsula, to Napa Valley. Stayed in really cool B & B's everywhere. It was fantastic.

A week in Jamaica a few different times. I never get sick of that place.

A couple years ago I went to Pebble Beach for 5 days on an all expenses paid trip. Stayed at the Inn at Spanish Bay. Played Pebble Beach, Spyglass and Spanish Bay. Never spent one dollar the whole time I was there, except on souvenirs for myself and the kids. The whole trip was amazing, and was something I had planned on doing on my own at some point in time. And the best part about it was ESPN paid for the whole thing and probably saved me about 5 grand.

The best trip that I've ever been on was a 3 week trip to Europe for 3 credit hours in grad school. I don't know if it really qualifies as a vacation, but we partied every night. We went to Geneva, Venice, Paris, Amsterdam, and London.
A couple months before that I went to Panama City Beach for Spring Break, which was a great time as well. The whole week was booze and boobs.
The summer between my junior and senior years of HS we went on a family vacation to Cancun and that was the best time that I had down there. My aunt, uncle, cousins, a couple of their friends, and a couple of my parents friends all went that time. I've been 2 other times, but that one was the best time. Unfortunately, I didn't drink back then so I missed out on all of that.

Some of the highlights of various vacations:

- Eating fresh Sea Bass on a restaurant on a pier while visiting my brother in Southern CA.

- Going whale watching and getting the best spot on the boat while in Maine.

- Taking a week to road trip to New Orleans with my two best friends while in college. Meeting up with a local bar owner and two NW students who we hung out with for one night in the French Quarter.

- Diving in Cozumel. The colors of the fish were amazing.

- Being one of two fools in a snorkel group who swam through a underwater tunnel in the Playa del Carmen area. We had to hold our breath for a minute to make it through. Great memory!

- Laughing when the sun finally came out in Vancouver as we were heading to the airport. It rained the entire time we were there until we left.

- Losing a fishing pole when I was little. The fish hit so hard it yanked the pole right out of my hands. My cousins dove in the lake to try and retrieve it, but had no luck.

- Taking two weeks at a little cabin in Maine when I was ten. We met some wonderful people, had great memories and it was the last family vacation before my dad died. The whole period was just full of great memories.

I'd have to say the Riviera Maya in Mexico (near Playa del Carmen). I've been there three times, and am going back later this year. The best trip was my honeymoon...that area is just amazing, and the snorkeling is unbeatable.
