I've never gotten 1500, and can't imagine 1600 - but a few things I've been trying:

When launching pingu, try and get one of the higher albatross'. Also, try and make the connection as the pingu is on the way down.

The flapping part, keep it near the ground. Also, I flap in pairs (i.e. double click) after the first few flaps...

But there's got to be more tricks...

My longest single flight is 1483. I agree with having the pingu catching the albatross on his way down...they glide somewhat farther on ther initial decent. Note the game times on some of the best scores...you can tell they were waiting for the right albatross to show up before jumping.

The quick double-click near the ground trick works well, but I get my best results when I can do the quick double-click followed a split second later by a single click. There have been times when I could make them arch to just short of the clouds and travel a ton, allowing them to recharge their strength. The trick obviously is avoiding hitting the clouds which greatly slow you down...

Ok, a few things that i do.

First at the beginning, try to get a fast moving and high albatross on the way down

the first to times i do a slow double click, after that i do slow triple clicks, as low to the ground as possible. takes some practice.
