Yeah. They were talking about that on the radio earlier today. The guy subbing for Rome said Coach K has earned the right to make these commercials for living and coaching the way has for so many years, while acknowledging that they likely are an unfair advantage for Duke.

i don't know if i consider them to be recruiting videos per se, though it has been a common argument. however, it's rather absurd to think that these commercials are anything close to the recruiting videos that duke's games are. well, certainly this year hasn't been much of a recruiting video for duke.

The thing is, Coach K is recognized by everyone. Even my wife knows his mugshot when she sees it. Kids nationwide see his grill on tv everyday, the familiarity has to play a role in their decision process

oh, i agree. to recruits and those who will one day be recruits, however, these commercials are just a drop in the bucket. these commercials make coach k known to those who didn't already know who he was.

i just don't see any recourse here. where is the line that divides commercials that are just commercials and commercials that are, in effect, recruiting videos? are tressel's commercials that are shown throughout central ohio recruiting videos? while they are just local commercials, many colleges target central ohio schools for football players.
