I think these two are no talent hacks, but I don't know if they should be fired since their show does air on satellite where FCC rules do not apply. Obviously a lot of pressure is being placed on XM by the public and more importantly, advertisers and that is what could lead to them be removed permanently. With XM and Sirius pushing for a merger that is delicately hanging in the balance with the government for approval, this is the kind of attention they don't want/need.

Add Opie & Anthony to the growing list of shock jocks who have behaved badly enough to warrant silencing. But at least the duo has the distinction of being the first to be bounced from satellite radio, where government rules restricting raunchy content do not apply.

In an ironic twist, XM Satellite Radio said Tuesday that it has suspended "The Opie & Anthony Show" for 30 days, though the pair will still do their program on CBS Radio, where speech codes are far more stringent than they are on pay radio.

Greg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia first raised the ire of listeners when they broadcast May 9 the rantings of a character they call Homeless Charlie, who fantasized about having violent sex with Laura Bush, Condoleezza Rice and Queen Elizabeth II.

They had a bum talking about raping the chicks named above and Opie and Anthony basically went along with him on his opinion.

If you have that kind of sense of humor it's funny. I myself am not a fan of O&A, but have Sirius for the sole purpose of hearing Howard every day. He and O&A say and do things that are outrageous that most of us can't get away with, but wish we could. Sometimes they go over the line, and this is the second time it has come back to bite O&A in the ass.

I'm not that interested in O&A. In fact, they were very instrumental on my getting Sirius. 92.3 was the best radio channel in Cleveland, for a while. Then, O&A got on in the afternoons, and music on the radio channels in the afternoons came to a halt. So, I got Sirius. Haven't heard them in almost a year.

Here's my question, I kind of view Imus, Stern and O&A in the same light. That is, they are shock jocks who make statments above and beyond any reasonable thought just to incite controversy. They probably don't believe half of what they say but they are playing a role.

But because the NAACP and Jackson and Sharpton jumped on Imus, he gets fired. O&A and Stern have done a lot more over the top stuff (IMO) but because Imus makes it a racial deal he gets canned.

I think we either accept them all or get rid of them all.
