Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter

Are these things good? I haven't heard the greatest reviews from the couple friends I know who have them. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it), my system is just out of range for a wired connection.. so it's close to the router. Only one wall in between it and the router.

Is it good with a router that has passwords in place and whatnot?

I've used one briefly that was my friends, and he has had nothing but good things to say about them. However I've heard a few bad reviews of lag from others.

Just found out it's $100 today, so fuck it. I'm not getting it no matter how good it is. I'll just use a long cable.

Not worth it, I actually had to get rid of mine (sold it to a guy at work) and move to Ethernet over power because of the lag when playing L4D or GTA4.
