    • The Xavier Musketeers visit Columbus to take on the Buckeyes in a mid-week game in Bill Davis Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm Wednesday.

    The Musketeers have had a rough start to the year, going 7-21 in their non-conference part of their schedule. In their defense, however, their schedule has been much more respectable than other teams we could name. Xavier has played Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and North Carolina State. They are 3-3 in Atlantic 10 play.

    Dew had 4 RBIs, and Hurley went 2-5 with 3 runs scored as the Buckeyes defeated Xavier 12-6. The bullpen had a terrific game to pick up Best. Brown, McKinney and Minium allowed 1 run in the last 6 1/3 innings. Best had a rough outing, allowing 5 runs in the first 2 innings. The Buckeyes improve to 17-7. Xavier drops to 7-22.

    McKinney pitched very well, and Minium has improved over the course of the season so that gives me some hope. I worried about Best. He's coming off arm surgery, and we used him a ton during spring break. I hope he is ok.

    We hit a ton of fly balls again tonight. I wish we would hit a few more balls on the ground to force these crappy defensive teams we play to actually make a play.

    All 3 games of the IU series will be streamed on the BTN. This ought to be a great series. Looking foward to seeing how Wimmers does againt ttheir bats..especially Dickerson. The hoosiers can flat out rake! The best lineup in the B10.

    big improvement from Minium this year

    last year he threw 19.2 innings and had a 16.47 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .453

    this year in 18.1 innings so far he has a 4.42 ERA while allowing opponents a .280 BA
