WTF. Obesity is more than an epidemic. It is a lifestyle choice that robs you of quality of life and eventually causes major medical problems that shorten your life. During the last five years, with COVID and bilateral knee replacements, I gained fifty pounds and became obese.

I decided to fight back. So, I pushed through physical therapy. I can now walk 5km a day and this week, I got back on the bike for the first time in 6 years.

In the last 6 weeks, I have lost 25 pounds and am now officially overweight. If I lose another 15 lbs, I will no longer be overweight. An additional 10 lbs will bring me to my training weight. I now appear to be someone 20 years younger than my age. People that I have not seen for a long time tell me that I have not aged. I experience life completely differently. I feel alive and vibrant. I sleep better. I have no "age-related" pain.

At first I hated eating healthy foods. My diet consists primarily of protein shakes, salads, and small portions of stuff. The portions that I eat are like the ones my generation ate as children. Before the "Whopper", before Super size. I feel full after eating half of what I used to eat.

We need to stop normalizing obesity and get back to not hanging over our belts. Shame on "influencers" like this that spread this nonsense, such as this.

In his late 80s, Nelson Mandela still did 45 minutes of stationary running, 100 fingertip push-ups, 200 sit-ups, burpees and various other calisthenics. He ran 5-8kms four mornings a week and boxed several nights. I wanna be like that guy.
