I worked one summer at a restaurant in my home town, mostly as a dishwasher. There were roaches all over that kitchen. I never ate there even though "free lunch" was part of the deal, and I told friends/family to not eat there. It closed about a year later. Absolutely disgusting.

In older buildings it's almost impossible to keep roaches and other varmints out. At one of our stores they got under the steam table in the deli and it was full of roaches and scorpions. We had a rat living under one of the end caps. A big rat almost the size of a small cat.
