They did alright following the Weapon X/ XI origins.
The CGI on his claws looked like ass at most times though, not well done at all.
I was dissapointed in Gambit's character. Instead of seeing the brash, short haired dude with a bo-staff. (I realize the earlier versions of him looked more like the movie guy...but still) We see some homo with a pimp cain. They didn't explain why he picked playing cards or his ability to manipulate them - his kinetic power over organic and non organic substances., Nor his hypnotic abilities. I did like how they kept his accent though... he was always bringing up his Louisiana style in the comics/series, so... nice touch.
Funny thing, him and Wolverine never ever really got along... But hey, gotta make it work somehow.
