Yeah, because Pittsburgh is the backwaters of the medical community. :roll1:

Nope but if you hate it as much as you claim and your opportunities are present, one is inclined to believe you would move on to a more appealing environment...

...but then again, most people do enjoy being miserable :roll1:

I remember that when I lived in Boston the state of Rhode Island set up a website specifically to draw people and companies away from Massachusetts by bragging about how much better Rhode Island was. The site was www.mass-exodus.com, which I thout was hilarious. It doesn't appear to be running anymore, but here is an article I found about it: http://www.mirrorimage.com/mi/articles/washpost00.html.

State sponsored state bashing is more fun!

When I think of a list of medical communities, Pittsburgh doesn't exactly come to mind.
I know we give tibor a hard time on many issues, but on this one he is correct. The UPMC system is world recognized for many areas of expertise.

Complex organ transplants, cancer research, pain management, sports medicine and others come directly to mind.

Now as to what a doctorb adds to that pot ... well that is another debate. But, Pittsburgh can be rightfully proud of UPMC.

I've always said they should have a freeway going from central Ohio to Myrtle Beach since a large majority of teh people you see there are from Ohio.

All high school seniors go down there and then every redneck, white trash, Ohio family with NASCAR bumper stickers on their vehicle goes down there thinking it's the greatest place this side of the French Riviera.

I have to agree, imagine every white trash WV coming to Columbus to go surfing on the Olentangy.

I think of Rochester, MN, Cleveland, Boston, NY, not Pittsburgh.

BTW, Tibs isn't involved in any of the fields listed above.

Pittsburgh is probably known for Proctology as well...

It's called "The Redneck Riviera" during tourist season...the summer is horrible.

It's not called "The Redneck Riviera" for nothing...the summer is horrible.

Traffic is a nightmare and the best part is people who experience Dick's Last Resort for the first time and think they're the only one's who have ever been there and have to tell you everything that the waiter said to them that night.

About 15 years ago there was a lot of talk of creating an I-73 corridor from Detroit to Charleston, which would have gone through Columbus. I haven't heard anything about it for over five years though (and I would know as the proposed highway was to go through part of my parents' farm in Seneca County), so maybe the idea was abandoned.
