  • The Buckeyes won both of their mid week games 9-0 over West Virginia and 5-0 over Marshall.

    COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State baseball team shut out West Virginia, 9-0, Tuesday night at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 20-10 on the season while the Mountaineers fall to 17-16.
    After Ohio State starter Brett McKinney struck out the side in the top of the first, the Buckeyes took the early lead against West Virginia starter Dan Dierdorff in the bottom of the frame. Joe Ciamacco singled to lead off the inning, moved to second on an error on a failed pickoff by Dierdorff, advanced to third on another Mountaineer error on a failed pickoff and scored on a single to left by Ryan Cypret for a 1-0 Ohio State lead.
    The Buckeyes added to their lead with a pair in the bottom of the second. With two down, Tim Wetzel walked, moved to second on a single to left by Troy Kuhn and scored on an RBI single by Ciamacco. Ciamacco was then picked off first and caught in a rundown, allowing Kuhn to score from third to push the lead to 3-0.

    Marshall

    COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State baseball team shut out Marshall, 5-0, Wednesday night at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 21-10 on the season while the Thundering Herd fall to 13-19.
    The Buckeyes jumped on Marshall starter Kyle Kessler early, tagging him for four runs, two earned, on three hits in the bottom of the first. After Joe Ciamacco singled and stole second, Ryan Cypret hit an RBI double to right-center, scoring Ciamacco. Following a Kirby Pellant pop out, Patrick Porter reached on an error and Jacob Bosiokovic followed with a two-RBI double to left-center. Kessler was then pulled for right-hander Matt Hummell before Bosiokovic advanced to third on a fly out to left field and scored on a wild pitch from Hummel to give the Buckeyes a 4-0 lead.
