It looks like that is just an option. I guess they are calling the hatchbacks 5-door and the regular one will be the 4-door body type. Anyway, if you want a pretty car, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. If you want a fun, fast car to hold it's value....look no further.

i'm fully aware that it is not all about looks seeing as how i am mainly a performance enthusiast, but if you are giving me the choice between an ugly looking next gen WRX and a nice looking evo with comparable performance then i am taking the evo everytime. i have no problems at all with the current generations looks.

Compare the Evo to the STI...you'd have a better argument. If you're going to compare the WRX to the Evo, yeah, I'd take that in a heartbeat. The Evo is a souped up Lancer...much like the STI is the faster version of the WRX.

In all fairness, Evo usually gets the nod in most evaluations....but I'm a little partial to Subarus. Both great cars.

well i meant the WRX STi originally. the base WRX blows the lancer out of the water so its only a far comparison to use the base impreza platform against it. but i have heard similar reports of the evo getting the nod over the STi. i love both cars even though i am not really ever in the market for them.

Talking with the sales manager who sold me me mine, they were predicted big hits to sales of the WRX line in 2008 due to the new design and questionable options packages. I wonder if the new WRX design was influenced by Toyota seeing as they recently bought out a large stake in Subaru... cause the new one looks like a Corolla.

But I imagine US sales is only a small part of their total sales. From what I've read, hatchbacks are a big thing in Europe and Japan.

actually, the hatch is starting to grow on me. Definitely looks more aggressive than the sedan. Not sure if the STI will look any different

regarding previous discussion, the 2008 WRX comes in a sedan or hatchback.

The WRX STI will ONLY be a hatchback. :smash:

Upon further review, I found out the Legacy GT has more power (and performance) than the WRX... it has the same engine as the WRXsti (except it is not as tricked out and doesn't has as much power as the WRXsti).

If you're really into a four door sporty car at a "reasonable" price, look at the Legacy GT spec. B (enhanced suspention as well as bigger wheels and brakes).

The Legacy GT is 0-60 in 5.7 seconds... darn good for the size and price. (granted part of that is due to the gearing... you don't need third gear until just above 60mph, so you only switch gears once)...

Very Cool, LGT's look pretty slick too.

About 4 months in and so far the WRX has treated me well. Quick, fun to drive and great handling characteristics. The gearbox is a little mushy but that's in comparison to the only other manual transmissions I've driven - a Honda Civic Si and a BMW 650i. Nothing a short shifter kit can't fix.
