WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Here's the thing, if he's as good as advertised, I'm sure JT will find a way to get him on the field...and I'm sure that will be part of JT's pitch. Tress has shown that he is willing to adapt to the talent he has on the roster, and if Pryor is as good as advertised, he may very well find playing time as a frosh in a Tebow type role IMO.

Let's not forget that Ohio State has its own potential phenom at QB in the person of Antonio Henton. Certain people believe that Henton should be the starter as early as this season.

And let's face it - it's almost always best for a QB to red-shirt in any case.

It is quite possible that Pryor's career path at Ohio State would be as follows: red-shirt in 2008; sit behind Henton in 2009 and 2010; start in 2011 and 2012. In reality, not a whole lot different from Troy Smith's career path, and Troy left Columbus with a Heisman.

No offense to Mr. Henton cause I love his arm, his escapability, and his leadership... but he is not Pryor... Now u can tell me he hasnt proven anything other than that he is an exceptional HS QB... but Henton still hasnt proven anything, and I would say that Pryor is much further along than Antonio was as a HS junior..

JWinslow put it perfectly.. You dont wanna be the guy to follow the legend.. Boeckman will be the one who has to do that.. and by the time he is done, we'll be ready for our next legend..

Very good point LJB. Henton has all the tools to be the next big thing in C-Bus. A lot of people are losing sight of that with all the hype sourrounding Pryor. Henton was profiled on SI just a few months back...

Here's the thing as I see it, Henton has the abilities to be a very good college QB. Heisman threat? Who knows, waaay too early to tell. Pryor though, IMO, has the raw talent to be a transcendent VY type of player. This is gonna be a fun recruitment to follow. I see many ups and downs in the coming months.

If your kid was a big time RB would you want him going to OSU to compete with Archie in his last couple of years then have to be the guy who replaced him? Thats what Tebow is down here.

If Pryor said this it tells me two things. He is confident enough to think he can compete from Day 1 anywhere he goes. He is smart enough to look for a school that still gives him the best shot at doing that. I like smart, confident QB's.

No matter where he goes, if he were my kid I wouldn't want him to follow Tebow. Nothing good of it can come for Pryor.
I don't disagree with the psychology (with respect to a kid choosing a school and with the "don't want to follow a legend"), but I do object to a fan base thinking they have any say in who starts. That's all.

Another thing to kee in mind is that VY took around 3-4 years to develop into the player he is. I can remember people saying he was a bust after his first 2 years, I know Pryor wants to come in and be the man, but that hardly ever happens for a freshman or RS freshman QB, no matter how talented they are.

Though another school of thought on that development curve is that it took Mack Brown over 2 years to let Vince Young be Vince Young in the UT offense.

Are you kidding me???? Have you seen Pryor play??? He is a freak athletically be he is not polished at the QB position at all... Absolutley is not the case. Tons of upside no doubt, but he is not a player that can or will come in and start from day 1.

This is a true statement... The parallel with TP and VY is so amazing because of this factor... Almost the exact same size and ability (at this point in their careers), but raw as heck when it comes to passing ability... Just like Vince though, the tools are there... And remember, it took Vince 3 years as a starter to find his way in the passing game...
VY also redshirted his freshman year... Something that wouldn't be a bad idea for TP to start honing his passing skills and to learn the play book... I just hope that he decides to develop them in the Scarlet & Gray...

If Henton was still a HS junior then this might be a significant observation; however, it is irrelevant because Henton has had a couple years in the system to get a LOT better.

Pryor ain't gonna be "the man" unless Henton is a complete bust or gets injured -- he's gonna be a true freshman fer crisssakes, and he's coming in as a raw athlete instead of a polished QB. Of course, that won't prevent fans at all the schools recruiting him from buying into the hype that Pryor is some kind of superman just like *gasp* Jimmy Clausen, but unfortunately that is hype and not reality.

Per Mike Farrell on Rivals Radio this AM, TP is headed to State Penn U this weekend for their rivals camp.

Mike seems to think it is all OSU/PSU battle and he said "Terrelle has been to PSU quite a bit". Mike did admit that TP has been hearing from all of the national powers as of late.

Mike was supposed to talk w/ TP last night to get an update, but he missed the call on his cell (read: one too many michelob's).

Just kidding.

Absolutley OSUBUCKS... I would love for him to develop at OSU. Seriously, I have seen him play 5 times in person last year and he is so much better then everyone on the field it is silly... just has some hard work to do in college to be the mega star everyone thinks he will become.

Farrell rarely handicaps tOSU in an OOS race for a recruit... TP has been to PSU a lot... Word on the street seems to be that their B-ball program (or lack thereof) could cost them in the end though...
