Sorry LRABuck, I didn't mean to come out that way. You're question is very valid, especially when you toss in the x-factor of Ginn getting reps at CB!GMan said:Relax. I'm sure LRABuck hasn't reviewed all 2800 threads and 47,000 posts, seeing as she just joined BP this month.
Oh, I didn't take it negatively :) The topic was something I'd been wondering about for awhile, and I was curious as to what you folks thought.R0CK3TM4NN said:Sorry LRABuck, I didn't mean to come out that way. Ginn Jr . not running
Receiver Ted Ginn Jr. will not run track this spring as originally planned, his father said.
"He had some little injuries here and there," Ginn Sr. said, "and (Tressel) wanted him to kind of heal up."
But then rambled on with this...Taosman said:Was impressed at the game planning of Okie State to take Ginn out of the game,
Ginn was the MVP of the game... caught six passes for 78 yards and rushed for another 51 yards and a touchdown. The Pokes shanked a few punts and kicked away from Teddy, but if you want to consider this approach a solid gameplan to contain him given the final stats, I really hope other teams choose to follow. Your statement about changing field position is huge itself...often that is just as good as a solid return.Taosman said:even though it was a blowout! Ginn had some yards on receptions and returns, but no return scores. And his one TD was at the QB position! He did have an obvious effect on field position! But, again , few big plays and no return TDs! This is how teams will try to handle Ginn.
Other than punting out of bounds, what basic strategies did you see Okie State use to shut Ginn down? Obviously TGII doesn't return every punt for a TD. Since Okie only gave him a couple to field, I think it is hard to suggest that they made him a non-factor in the punting game. If they found a game plan that could stop him, they wouldn't have been kicking to the stands.Taosman said:Watched the Alamo Bowl again last night. So his ability as a receiver will be even more important. I would look for less in the return game from him and more as a WR!
Ok we have awards we hand out for good post, but after reading this one I think we should have a Dunce Cap that a post like this would receive and the poster would have to endure it until the next "dunce" comes along.Taosman said:Watched the Alamo Bowl again last night.
