WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

I think Ginn should pay on both sides of the ball. We now know that he is a play maker on the offensive side of the ball, now let's see what he can do on the defensive side of the ball.....

Go Gettum' Ginn

Ted Ginn Jr. is absolutely incredible!!!! And the funny thing is, It doesn't look like he's turned on the afterburners yet!! Very fluid when he runs.. Poetry in motion. A phenom at best.....

See... heres my problem with all the guys who say he should go both ways: You just don't get how tiring that really is. I know Gamble did it for a large part of 2002, but theres a reason he had only spot duty on offense in 03. If you were a guy down by giving him too much on his plate, he's not going to be great at either towards the end of the game. Theres a reason that guys like Gamble, Woodson, Champ Bailey, and others only did spot duty on offense while also doing defense: they were too good at what they did on D to waste all that energy on O.

As for the Ginn/Galloway/Glenn speed issue, I would still have to go with Galloway FOR NOW!!! Ginn might possibly be a tad quicker, but Galloway was so feared for his, what some say was under 4.3, speed. Give Ginn a bit more time and maybe then I'll give him the edge.

As for the guy who said that we should retire the letter G, I say why not. I mean, just look at the list: Griffin, Galloway, George, Glenn, Germaine, Gamble, Ginn (premature I know, but for arguments sake)... and most assuredly I'm missing a few here!!!

Let's just agree that they both are fast (Galloway & Ginn). Galloway apparently ran a 4.15 at one point for the NFL, but I could see Ginn being pretty comparable, especially if he chose to work on becoming even more explosive and fast with the OSU staff.

Right now, they dont have the option of switching him to defense, he is the only one making big plays for the O. The guy is lethal, go recruit another top flight corner.

one more thing....

As much as I hate Edwards I have to respect him. He's the best in college football right now bar none. I would rather have Fox on Edwards with Whitner covering over the top, or in this situation Ginn over the top. I can just see Ginn in at the safety nickel spot, Edwards runs by Fox and has a step, Henne throws the ball out there to a seemingly wide-open Edwards, and out of nowhere Ginn flys in from off screen to pick it off!

Ginn has to play on offense because he is the text book definition of a gamebreaker. That being said I think he could he pull off playing both ways. He doesn't need to be on offense on every snap and putting him semi judiciously could still probably garner him the touches he deserves on offense. He doesn't need to be stalk blocking on every iso, or coming on out only on third and long. On D with smart subbing he might be able to hold up a whole season doing this.

We score more...

If Ginn gets in on D, I think we'll score about 64 points a game. The ball won't be allowed to hang in the air for more than .65 seconds without sipping on some Ginn and Juice.

edit** He should be in on every single play possible.

Snoop Doggy Dog, originally. But I think we're going to be getting used to hearing it.
Yeah, I know the song. But during College Gameday Scoreboard, during the OSU v. MSU highlights, someone on ESPN said "sipping on Ginn and juice" when they showed Ginn returning the punt for a TD. I was wondering which commentator it was that said it.
