WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

a few thoughts/answers...

1. Nicol is still ahead of Frost on the depth chart
2. Teddy was QB/DB/KR/etc his senior year at Glenville, but he played WR the year before that when Hiley was the QB.
3. sorry AKAK, it was early when i posted that. i forgot how fast the kid runs :)

I don't think anyone could say Ginn isn't a good kid with amazing talent. I for one was just making an observation that he needs to work on his routes. He will get it without a doubt and when he does, he is going to be a great one

Brutus2002,
Don't we have Rory Nicols, Hoewisher and maybe Frost(if needed) at TE who are all freshman(I think) and backing up Ryan Hamby?? Correct me if I am wrong though... but why are you concerned ?

Anyone else dissapointed that R Hall is not able to contribute? I thought that with the size of that kid he would be an impact player. He is the big body that we are missing.

Wish he could block. I would see how he looked at TE. He is big enough.

I'm worried about TE because if Hamby goes down we have nobody with even close to his experience. I am happy to see a RS freshmen and a TRUE FRESHMEN DOING WELL AND HAVE ALOT OF POTENTIAL. I guess we have been spoiled having Hartsock and Hambt back there.

I think the timing between Hall the Zwick is the main problem for Hall. He always seemed to be open but the ball was overthrown, or thrown behind him. I dont see him moving to TE as we are pretty much set there. This might just be a wakeup call for him. In either case our top 4 WRs will see plenty of time if the first 3 games are an indicator for the rest of the season.

I can't argue with you there about Freshmen coming in if (god I pray not) Hamby was to get injured (knock on wood). Everything I have heard though is that Rory Nicol has great hands and is coming along great. We shall see.
I thought you ment you were worried about the depth there (although you are right its young depth). Good points though.
I am still woried about LB depth. Maybe just because our current ones are so great and we have not heard about the young and upcoming, even though I have heard Hoobler and Freeman are gonna be good ones. All that Said I have faith in Coach Tressel .

If you watched the Big33 game Chad Hoobler is a Matt Wilhelm in the making. The guy is gonna be a total stud at Linebacker!!!

On the Tressel call in show Tress said that Marcus Freeman is gonna be one hell of an OLB. Tress said that in practice he is tearing it up and the coaches are raving about his abilities.

We do need 2-3 solid LB recruits in this class. I'm not overly concern but if we were to have a not so great recruiting class at LB I might be a little worried. We are being looked at by ALOT of top LB recruits so we just have to wait and see how the class fills out.

Teddy Ginn

Maybe the only positive (other than possibly AJ's game) from yesterday's game was getting our first glimpse of Teddy Ginn's blazing speed. I had read/heard about his amazing speed in high school but had not seen it in a game. When he turned on the jets on that return, it seemed like everyone else was in slow motion. I watched that replay on SportsCenter a few times, and he blew by everyone -- including his own blockers -- almost effortlessly. He needs to get as many touches as possible, if for no other reason than to simply take advantage of his gamebreaking speed.

I saw that game from the 40 yard line at OSU stadium and WOW it was a good play by Teddy. When he learns to run better routes he will get more touches and then man oh man will he break out and contend for some major awards and accolades and rack up some major stats.

Why did Ginn not remain back there all game, and instead they used Holmes? Holmes has fumbled a few punts now. He's also fumbled and few catches. If he doesn't fix that...I think Ginn needs to be back there instead.

I agree I think that Holmes is explosive but I put Ginn up there with Terry Glenn or Robert Smith. Just guys that look like they can make things happen on any play anywhere. I think that before Ginn leaves he is going to be a legend...
