WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

The team is still young and will get better as time goes on. Each play is probably different. One could be a missed throw by Zwick, another a bad route by Ginn, or a breakdown in pass protection where it throws off the timing.

I also think that Ginn Jr. was such a superior athlete in HS that he probably didn't need to rely much on techinque in HS. That will only take you so far in college as most DB are also superior athletes. As TG works more on his technique and Zwick starts pinpointing his receivers, our passing game will be impressive, imo.

GO BUCKS!! :osu:

I think that some forget that Zwick was being blitzed like hell by NC State. People also forget that we played a damn good defense on Saturday, perhaps one of the best in the ACC. In fact, all three of our first opponents will be in the top 3 in their conference in team defense in my opinion.

Zwick's first 3 games have been trial by fire, and he has responded very well in my book. Look at the QB situation in Michigan, they are in for a rough season in my book. Zwick has drastically reduced his errors from the Cincy game to NC State. He still has huge room for improvement, but I believe that he has solidified his job as our starter for the next 3 years.

As far as him and Ginn not hooking up, I think that is from a lack of familiarity with one another (Ginn has only been around for a couple of months). Most good connections from QB to receiver take months to develop the timing. If you look at USC, Jarrett and Leinart are having the same problem, and they play in a user friendly offense.

GoTTA agree with all of the above ....

Zwick will settle down with more experience

TG will run better routes

JZ & TG will be more in sync as they play more together.

We need a little better pass protection,

and we need a running game to take some of the pressure off.

We are playing well, and we have the potential to mature and play great.

This week off will help tremendously.

And while NW needs to be respected, we have a great set up .....

NW on the road, and comming back home after a month of no home games

to a great crowd to face Wisconsin.

We should be clicking on all cylinders by then ......

GO BUCKS !!!!!!!!

Zwick to Ginn

We need to get him the ball on a wide receiver screeen with Roy Hall blocking or on an end around. I want to see what he can do in the open field. Everyone has been going crazy about him since he signed with us. Hopefully he will give us a preview of coming attractions in the Northwestern game.

I haven't noticed that Zwick is any more inaccurate to Ginn than he is anyone else. Especially against NC State, Zwick was horribly inaccurate. I don't mean to knock the kid, as there were plenty of excuses for it, and I feel he will be much better in the future, but I thought him extremely inaccurate in that game. Maybe I just missed the throws to Ginn, but I didn't think they were any worse than a lot of his other throws.
Watching the game with two bro's in law, we kept screaming the same thing. When throwing on crossing routes, he threw at their back foot. On a couple of post moves he overthrew by 15 yards. In the first quarter, we kept saying, nerves... nerves. But he never calmed down. Can't take the rush, maybe. Of course we were screaming for Smith but I don't know if that would have been any better.
Go Bucks!

Bam and Ginn from BN

Good read from BN...just a few interesting parts here. Free article

Senior <!--Default NodeId For Bam Childress is 1174058,2004-->Bam Childress has supplanted sophomore <!--Default NodeId For Roy Hall is 1195898,2004-->Roy Hall in the starting lineup. (In actuality, Childress will start at flanker and <!--Default NodeId For Santonio Holmes is 1200482,2004-->Santonio Holmes will slide over to Hall’s split end spot.) And, it seems that freshman <!--Default NodeId For Ted Ginn is 1166629,2004-->Ted Ginn Jr. – who got into the last game at N.C. State ahead of Hall – is also firmly in OSU’s plans when it goes to three- and four-wide receiver sets.

When asked if Ross is to blame, Childress said, “Well, I’d say it’s a little bit of both. I don’t think he had a bad game. I think he was getting a lot of pressure. Come Saturday, he’s going to do real good. I have no doubt about that. I know every time they call a running play on Saturday, I’ll be blocking for them.”

And Childress marvels when he looks over at the ultra talented Ginn.

“He’s capable,” Childress said. “I just have to stay on him. Me and Tone stay on him all the time on little stuff. We could let him ride, but we stay on him with the little stuff and just make sure he gets better and better.”

The only thing that worries me about this is that we have no height at WR. My comfort zone requires at least one 6'3"+ WR who can fight for balls like MJ. I'm glad Bam is doing well in his senior year but I would like Hall to step up and earn some PT as well.

Ginn really hasn't been able to get into the flow of any game yet!!! I feel sorry for the team we play when he get 5-6 catches and starts feeling comfortable out there. I think Ted doesn't look comfortable out there. I think hes still adjusting but I think this Bye week might be just what he needed!!

ginn is afraid to be hit in addition to his poor route running, he looks bad comming out of his breaks, then gives up on a lot of balls. like jerry rice used to say, "your gonna get hit might as well catch it" i hope he can get popped once real hard and realize that rather than sissyfooting around when the balls in the air
