WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

TGII has been on the every teams radar since the MSU game last year...so what is different this year? I wish I had the answer....

Did anyone else hear his post game comments about how they need to be going full speed in practice. He seemed to be rather critical of how the coaches are running everything slow speed during the week. Then when (whoever was interviewing him) said, "isn't that to avoid injury?" TGII said," Yea, I guess" while rolling his eyes.

He seems to be getting very frustrated for whatever reason.

I know that it is in-season practice, but the practice that they showed on Espin they were not just going through the motions.

Guys it really sounds like some of you guys are writing off Ted Ginn after a couple of bad games, but how quickly we forgot that we saw flashes against Iowa with the punt return and he had 100 and some yards against Miami.

He is only in a slump, but he will find his game and we will all be drinking the kool-aid again. Right now it just needs some sugar to get it jumpstarted.

I've said it before, one big play and TG will be on his way. He's a true thouroughbred, he'll never be the plow horse who takes 5 or 10 yds, he's a home run hitter who will strike out some but when he is in a zone look out!.And if he gets in that zone go to him ALL the time don't decoy him, if you got NUKES use em.

It's a very interesting dilema for the coaching staff. Do you leave a guy in who's not producing just because of his potential? If someone else is practicing better why aren't they playing? This staff has been loyal to a fault over the years. I don't see them sitting Teddy.

So with your logic you would of put your big playmaker on the bench if he doesnt produce for a couple games. So anyone that has 4 bad games you put on the bench.

How many subpar performances do you allow for over a 12 game season? A third of the season is now complete, not just a couple games. How much longer can you go when you have other guys busting their butt everyday for the opportunity to play? The offense needs a spark that one of the other receivers may be able to provide but aren't getting the chance. I didn't say I wanted to sit him, just something that Tressel needs to think about. No one individual is bigger than the team.

Receiver is not the problem on offense. Ted Ginn is not the problem on offense. He's only a sophomore and is taking too much heat.
exactly. hamby has seen the ball and dropped it, regularly. Ginn has barely seen the ball. he's caught most of what has been thrown his way since texas. ginn as a WR should not be thrown under the bus (returner is a different story, tho you saw what he did with blocking vs Iowa). the horrible decoy routes that are wasting him should be thrown under the bus. They tried to do that vs. PSU, and nobody threw him the ball with single coverage.

I was at the Iowa game, TG was mostly running 5-8 yard outs. Are these the "so-called decoy routes"? I don't think so, he was open much of the day, but the ball wasn't thrown to him. Who throws the ball? TG easily could have made a big play or two if he got the ball. Again who throws the ball? Smith played great that game, but still was locked on to one guy. It just so happened that everyone was getting open that game, so it didn't matter who he was looking at or who he threw to. I think most of the disappointment in TG is with the return game. He just does not look comfortable with the ball. IMO.

that's fair, which is why I don't mind criticizing his return performance. But those 5-8 yard outs are useless. Why throw him teh ball when Holmes is upfield running a 12 yard curl route? Ginn is rarely even considered in the passing game, even when Smith had time, and it wasn't just a lack of recognition, it was b/c his route was useless. And that has happened game after game. That's why I get a little testy when people get down on Ginn, claiming he runs bad routes or doesn't want it enough. I think he's too dancy on returns, but doesn't get a chance on offense.
