Maybe someone said it but if they did I apologize for missing it. I think we are all forgetting one pivotal piece of information. Ginn did virtually nothing until the MSU game last year. For all we know it takes him a few games to get the juices flowing. His God-given talent alone will allow him to explode one of these days. It's just a matter of time. I totally agree with the other posts suggesting that Ginn's presence alone makes the offense open up for Gonzo and Holmes. I think that's the name of the game. Ginn himself responded to questions in an interview about his lack of production by saying the win is more important than how many touchdowns he scores. If we can win without him...imagine what we'll do when he opens up. Perhaps we'll find out next Saturday...
OK - you are right MSU was a coming out party for Teddy last year. Scoring 3 ways, reportedly told JT he would do so before the game started - and lived up to his goals. Its the type of performance and story that legends grow around.
However, Teddy didn't get to play pretty much until the 2nd half of the season at all. So your premise is well, flawed.
This season the issue isn't one of when he started to play - he's on the squad, and suited up for each game. It is more about whether he has gone absent, underperformed, simply been the primary focus of too much defensive attention, been trying too hard to do too much, or was bearing completely unrealistic expectations of a fervent fan-base -- or, all of the above at different times, in different games.
Frankly, his numbers are OK for any other player, not super-great, but OK. And, if he were any other player he would not have shot himself in the foot by trying too hard to do too much, to live up to those expectations - which would then have helped his already OK numbers get into the great category. Lastly, but for another untimely hold in the Iowa game we would already be talking about how Teddy has finally turned the corner and got it all going forward.
Which, being an undying optimist about these things, I firmly believe to be just about true.
Now I just want to see proof. And don't we all.
