Ginn wants to improve on reading defenses, route running, and blocking.

It's good to see him saying the right things. Can't wait to see this work showing up on the field.

BINGO !!! I am so glad someone pointed that out and that Ginn doesn't seem to be running routes right. When he does he'll do alot better. He is young and it will come, then watch out. Great Talent

Ginn is a freshman, don't forget that. I think that some expected him to be superman right away. Receiver is very tough to play when you do not have much experience with the QB (timing) and with the routes, which can be complicated.

I hope we start running more out of 3 and 4 WR sets. Spreading the defense across the field might help the O-line open up more holes and maybe Ross will look where he's running.

Agreed. Just the fact that he's cracked the two-deep within 3 games, gotten substantial game-time, and had a few balls thrown his way, is pretty impressive. I wouldn't have expected him to jump to the front of the pack among all of the talented freshmen and sophomore wideouts that we have.

Excellent Pick Up

You guys are so spot on about Ginn and his routes. He just does not have that crispness to them yet. Once he begins to finish them and gain some consistency, I believe his production will go up to atleast 4-5 catches per game.

Scary thing. He still has a shot to get the B10 Frosh of the year award. I would guess the media is leaning toward Hart of SCum, but Teddy could become a serious contender w/ one good game.

I have heard alot of excitement about Pittman and Joe this week. However, I have a feeling that having Frost back at full tilt might really loosen things up for our runnung game. Having two TE's that can catch as well as block will really give NW something to worry about. Especially if Frost can spread the field vertically.

Very much along the lines of my thinking, SC (and I believe he did play some wideout in H.S. - correct me if I'm wrong). I can't really comment on the route running, since I'm watching the games on t.v., but it does look to me as if, when he's in the game, Zwick looks to get the ball to him with some regularity. This suggests to me that either a) he is getting open, despite understably rough technique in route running, or b) he has shown in practice an unusual ability to turn an ordinary play into a game changer, when he gets the ball in his hands. Could be exciting as he develops his technique.

I know this info is pretty easily available, but I'm lazy. Did Frost pass Nicol on the two-deep for this week's game?

exhawg brought up a point about WR height. I myself also like height in a WR, but don't place as much emphasis on it. Holmes is as good as any WR in the conference, even Braylon Edwards, and is not even 6'. Bam Childress has been doing a great job of both catching and holding onto the ball, is the most elusive player on the field, and deserves his promotion to the starting lineup, while only being 5'10". Ted Ginn has the most potential of any of the WRs and is 6' even. Once Ginn gets his routes down and Zwick gets more consistency, we'll have a passing game that rivals anyone's in the country, despite none of our top WRs being over 6'.

As wonderful as Holmes has turned out to be - and now looking like a strong candidate to leave after three - he couldn't get his Redshirt off his Frosh year. The competition may have been a bit stiffer, but OSU hasn't played a true Frosh at that position since Chris Gamble (I believe).

I'm not to worried about the height issue, because Tressel has played all of the wideouts alot this year. Hall will get in the game and get his reps. I really don't see this as a demotion of Hall so much as it is a promotion for Bam.

While a little off topic, the poster who mentioned having two TEs available makes a good point. Not on that, but with Joe back we have a lot of flexibility out of a variety of formations. This is going to be a difficult game for Northwestern's defense to prepare for. With the cupboard full and with huge progress in the turnover game, I am optimistic that the offense can put together a complete game this week. It's capable of a lot more than it's shown.
