Congrats to your guy Santonio, awesome, awesome game. Funny that he and Sweed both had great plays in our game, and ended up on the same team, although Sweed didn't see has sure handed this year, I think he will be an asset in the future, enough about us, congrats on having another great pro represent your school.

I was glad to see Holmes come away with MVP honors, even though I wasn't rooting for the Steelers. He owned the fourth quarter and that final drive.

I was also glad that he stepped up to take the MVP honors away from James Harrison. I didn't want to see such an honor go to somebody who perpetrated a blatant cheap shot like he did.

Hooly was on 1460/97.1 just ripping into Holmes.... I tried to get on to defend him but was on hold to long.... all i heard was Steeler bandwagoners complaining about how he doesnt represent the "steeler" mind set and I just laughed at the thought of them last night crying for someone to make a play and he made a bunch..... they basked in his effort now are railroading him what a joke..... ill take him in Cleveland he is the opposite of Braylon

Does this surprise you coming from Stealers fans? Santonio is exactly what the Stealers needed: A real shot in the arm.

Santonio really has come full circle during his time in Pittsburgh. He had some real issues with his routes during his first year in Pittsburgh, which caused a great deal of Steeler Nation to greatly dislike what he was doing on the field. He wasn't showing his big play potential from Ohio State as well. During Cowher's last game in 2006 and the 2007 season, he started showing some big play potential, but it wasn't consistent and Big Ben still wasn't able to trust him when a big play was necessary, as he has a great deal of trust in Hines Ward and Heath Miller. However, ever since he made that game winning catch against Baltimore in Week 15, he has seemed to have a 2nd gear. He's making the plays when he has to make the plays. There are officially no more Santonio naysayers. He's not living up to his potential. He's a Super Bowl MVP. He's surpassed his potential, and he is now taking advantage of the moment. At this point, you gotta believe that the Steelers are gonna offer him a six year contract during the 2009-2010 offseason.

Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes is hailed at Glades Central and Disney World

BELLE GLADE ? The Ballet Catch.

The Toe Touch.

Or simply, That Last Catch.

Santonio Holmes' game-winning touchdown for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Sunday's Super Bowl already goes by many nicknames in his hometown. The last-minute play has been deemed an instant classic, one of the greatest in Super Bowl history, made even sweeter by Holmes earning game MVP honors.

"You still can't believe a kid that walked these halls is a Super Bowl MVP," Glades Central High School football coach Jessie Hester said Monday to a group of teachers and administrators as they ate lunch in the cafeteria.

Hester, who starred as a wide receiver at Glades Central and Florida State before an 11-year NFL career, admired Holmes' craftsmanship.

"He showed real grace and poise to be able to hold on to that ball with three defenders around him," Hester said. "That was an amazing grab."

Willie McDonald, who has coached track and football at the school since 1971, declared Holmes a Glades Central classic - surpassing Fred Taylor of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Hester and other former players who went on to NFL careers as the greatest Raider in history.

Holmes, who played at Ohio State, was the first Glades Central graduate to play in a Super Bowl.

Commentary: Santonio Holmes enters football lore on his tiptoes

TAMPA ? So what if it was a school night and midnight had already come and gone? Santonio Holmes' three small children, sons Santonio III and Nicori and daughter Saniya, had a special request and, after winning Super Bowl XLIII on a sensational catch in the final minute, Daddy was an easy mark.

"I just spent time with my kids after the game," said Holmes, a member of two state championship football teams at Glades Central High School. "I went back to my room, making sure everything was well taken care of, and put on a movie.

"They were very excited about watching Madagascar II."

Makes sense. Everything about Santonio's life has pretty much been a zoo this past week.

First came four days of intensive interviewing with Super Bowl media, which Holmes used as an opportunity to talk about selling drugs as a grade-schooler in Belle Glade and his wish that no one else from his neighborhood would make the same mistake.

Then came the challenge of keeping the roughly 150 friends and family members who traveled over from Belle Glade happy.

Not all could get tickets on the 50-yard line at Raymond James Stadium, but all needed a little face time with the new mayor of Muck City.

Finally came the shock of finding the Super Bowl MVP trophy in his hands.

To do what Holmes did Sunday night, well, it seems about as realistic as Madagascar II at first.

"It's yours, man, you get to keep it," an NFL official told Holmes as the Steelers' fourth-quarter wonder started to leave the stage without the MVP trophy at a Monday morning press conference.
